Unless the caliper has been really overheated with an over worked pad, the oe calipers will last a long time. Th dust boots go away, but the internals hold up reasonably well. For most HPDE enthusiasts an annual rebuild programs works out well. The rebuild, with OE parts, should be done at the end of the season for street driven / track driven cars. That means the dust boots are in place and working well for the inclement off season of street driving and ready for the start of the next track season.

Well the stock Brembo pistons are aluminum and transfer heat more than a SS piston. At least that's the sales speel...

WELL FOLKS, racing brake update their website after my call and you can now purchase their SS piston kit. However they want $106 more for the kit over a Z06 6 piston kit. So I just purchased the high temp dust shields and gaskets

They told me they are charging $100 more because their is competition on the Z06 brakes and non on the Zl1 . SO basically told me they could gauge me because of that!! I asked if they would sell for the same price, they wouldn't, very surprised as I was willing to spend another $300 bux with them!!

I understand the whole capitalism concept but that's kind of a crappy thing to do. They give a 10% discount if you buy the pistons and seals together.

They are on my list of rotor vendors too. IDK if I'd spend tat kind of money though. I would hope there's a package deal for something like that.

I have a while before I worry about brakes though.

Go to chevy and get the piston kit from the new z06 that doesnt use the CCM brakes. Vented steel piston caps. No better piston needed.

Great suggestion. Can you provide a part number?

From what it looks like, yes it's essentially the same caliper except the mounting flange is different. It uses the same rotor diameter and thickness as well. Come to think, I'm curious if the ZL1 and Z06 rotors have the same offset.
