Sounds like caliper bolts are loose.

I'm asking because I got mind installed today and I'm getting a strange, almost dull sounding clicking under moderate braking. I won't be able to pull the wheels off until tomorrow, but looking through the wheels everything looks and feels fine. That is, I see no signs of rubbing or scraping and everything appear to be tight & secure.

Could this just be the 2-piece rotors?

Clicking related directly to wheel speed?

BUMP.....just ordered my CTS-V kit sans stainless lines. Last piece of the puzzle before busting my cherry on Eagles Canyon Raceway.

Went with the factory color as the natural heat coloring has me intrigued.

Hawk HP Plus pads for the street and Pedders special (Carbotech) pads for the track is the plan.

Motul 600 for now then will go with Castrol SRF. Gonna bleed the old fashioned way and forgo the ABS Tech II.

Elected to stay with the tried and true CTS-V rotors

Really worried about brake fade at 160 + mph on the back 2000' straight going into the 90 deg turn 7! Hopefully wont be an issue for the 20 minute track session. I know the oil temps will be an issue after about 3 laps in the 100+ deg Texas heat, even with the big 16 row Earls oil cooler. Thats what the right foot is for.....right, no need to go 14 psi boost on every straight!

Time to re-read this entire thread!

Last week spend a few hours in the canyons really pushing the car. If heated up and had big time brake fade there before. None this time around, felt strong and consistent. Well worth it for the cost.

So Pete, are these CF pads you mention here the Pedders special you mention?

Thanks Pete, on the way! I better be able to slow this fat pig from 160+ to 60 or so in a hurry, and do it for 20 minutes. Damn near $700 for pads

Cant take it with you.....right?

All right, almost done. Would be done but the guy at JDP that packs the boxes forgot one of the pin kits so my passenger side front has no spring or pins. So i am left high and dry till friday. At least they are overnighting it and should be here Friday since tomorrow is the 4th.

Ive flushed the old fluid out of the clutch and pulled the old fluid out of the brakes with a pressurized system from harbor freight. I ordered 5 half litres of the Motul dot4 and still have about 2 pints left.

All is good but the passenger side front has no spring or pin kit but was able to bleed/flush the system. Car is on stands so i guess i will crawl around under it tomorrow and pretend i am doing something constructive!!!! its good to check all the fasteners on the suspension and ehaust i guess.

Kit is superior, now am just about ready to challenge Eagles Canyon Raceway on the monthly track days......shouldnt have to ping over the brakes now. I will run Cobalt Friction XR1/XR2 pads for the track days and HPS pads for the street.

Here are a few crappy pics since pics are a must.....never claimed to be an artsy fartsy photog kind of guy. If they suck.....blow me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pictures are fine, garage floor being filthy on the other hand... well ...........I guess we will have to wait and see when you get it all put together and cleaned up.

JK, that you are doing it yourself.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next
Track fix.

Here you go Bull...

http://www.racingbrake.com/Boots-and...-p/bc-61bs.htm

You will need 2, one for each side.

Now if you want a complete kit with Stainless Steel pistons, which reduce heat transfer, then you want this kit.
