I think a ZL1 may be my "forever" car someday.
I like that it is over built and without many weak points. I am currently upgrading my SS with several ZL1 parts.
I only wish they made it N/A vs S/C.

Take a look at the undercarriage on a zl1. Never seen a drivetrain stock as beefy as this one

I fell in LOVE with the ZL1 when it was introduced and knew I had to have one. So like the Beach Boys song goes: Well I saved my pennys and I saved my dimes for I knew there would be a time when I would buy a brand new ZL1!

I swear this thread has me wanting to go buy a new ZL1.

I got to drive one last year, yea they are pretty sweet. Had the ZL1 been around at the time I bought my SS, hands down I would have bought the ZL1 instead. I am pretty sure my next, "new" car will be a what ever the ZL1's replacement is for the new gen6.

I would love to have the Z as a DD and just keep my SS as a garage queen. Dont get me wrong, I love my SS, my build is something that I would love to do to a Z.

I just had to resurrect this thread!
What has been said about the ZL1 being special is all so true. Power, parts and performance! The look, well I just wanted to add that the with the hood, fascia and aero components unique to the ZL1, it makes the car look completely different than any other Camaro. Like the Z28 has it's own look, the ZL1 is special in the same way, but 580 HP out of the box is crazy. Love this car!!!

Folks with other models spend a lot of time talking about their cars. ZL1 owners tend to let their cars speak for themselves.

In the old days, you could take your car to the track and race it at your own risk, knowing your not driving the car the way it's supposed to be driven, but with the ZL1?
Get'r done. under warranty.

doing it all with the top down? priceless.
Although I am in the market for a ZL1 vert myself, i must say that some of the things you eluded to above are the things holding me back. The fact that a lot of tracks don't alow vets without a roll apparatus and the exclusion of PTM are both a real bummer for a car that really can't stretch the legs at any other location.

In my situation I will use the convertible option more then I could get to the track. Without the ability to ever really use the advantages that the ZL1 holds over the SS, I struggle to justify the sale of my SS and purchase of the ZL1 'vert (other than the cool factor).
