It can be a bit overwhelming when you first start setting up your GoPro, but you're right, once you get the settings the way you like them, it's extremely easy to use.

Plus, the manual that comes with the GoPro explains every setting in detail so it's not that difficult to figure out if you just read the manual. But, being that this site is predominantly male, I imagine the trend of, "we don't need no stinkin' manuals!" can make this otherwise simple task seem like quantum physics.

I have been using GoPro cameras since they first came out (very handy for autocross and track days). I purchased the Hero 3 Black Edition the day it came out, but have just now gotten around to testing it out; naturally, I went with my ZL1...in my neighborhood. The 1440p & 4K settings are stunning. Here are my first two test results (be sure to watch in 1080p as they were filmed in 1440p @ 48 fps):

Bump. Looking at picking up a gopro for the car, would the hero 3+ silver be sufficient or should I go all out with the black edition? It would be mounted both in and out and would be used for track days and highway cruises.

I had one of the very first go pros and it worked very well. Am sure the new ones are awesome. I had sold mine and bought a contour maybe 2 years ago or and it also works good. Looking at getting a new GoPro soon also.

Heres a couple videos I captured with the Contour when I had my corvette. 1st is of a bird that was undecided about crossing my path. As you can hear I lol'd

And this one I edited a bit. What happens in the video I did not even realize till about a week later. Seen that then reviewed the video

If you can, I'd go all out. Just don't get the basic one. lol

Oh yeah I'm definitely not getting the white edition. I just don't want to pay for more than I need.
