Haha wow iv never heard of that. I know plenty of people who wish they had a stickshift, but never the other way around. Thats just silly. I mean theres nothing wrong with an auto, but id still rather drive a stick. Im pretty sure that guy doesnt have any idea what hes talking about.

Getting a stick has absolutely NOTHING to do with affordability. Ppl who have manual actually WANTED the manual. Have you ever THOUGHT about that?

Kind of regretting bringing it up! didnt mean it to turn into an auto vs. manual camaro fight, but I should have known better. Shame on me.

I wonder how many older camaro buyers for example, who grew up when the auto tranny was hot, look at modern cars that way (as the auto being a "performance option"? I dont know, I thought it was ineresting to say the least, and I was quite frankly stunned and confused! I think most of us look at it as a series of tradeoffs, and not as one being a performance part and the other not?

2010 Camaro SS modified extensively. I stretched the body to make it a 4 door, but I swapped in the 3.6L DI V6 for fuel economy. Then I picked up a corvette body around the V8. I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)

Lol. But instead of buying a transmission that you may not want, how about just saying "NO you can't borrow the car?"

Well, the auto is faster 60ft and 0-60 than the manual on paper. However, most drivers arent good enough with a manual to come even close to what the auto can do so it doesnt much matter.

Plus, for a typical 5yr note the auto only costs maybe $16 a month more...

ummm have you read the first post?!?!

The guy the OP is talking about said he couldn't AFFORD the auto. So I think getting a stick might have a little SOMETHING to do with affordability... at least in this case.

Jeez.

In fact, did you even read the title of this thread where it says "I couldn't AFFORD the auto."

The manual transmission Ferarri California is slower than the automatic transmission version.

The manual transmission Infiniti G37 costs several thousand more than the automatic transmission.

How's that for a mind bender!

Yeah on high-end sports cars, the autos are becoming faster. Nissan GT-R doesn't even have a manual transmission option!

Top Fuel Dragsters:
They do have a transmission, but they are only one speed forward and reverse. When they do the burn out they fully engage the clutch to spin the tires. Then the use reverse to back up to the line. Then the launch to race a pnumatic system slowley engages the multi step clutch allowing it to slip to keep the wheels from spinning. By the end of the race the clutch is fully engaged and has welded itself together from all the heat. The use a new one every race.

No shifting... sounds similar to an Automatic

Depends on the type of race....you will VERY VERY rarely find a drag racer in a manual.
