ET-I'm with you
Think about cylinder deactivation....would an engineer have ever come up with this if not forced to by the pressure of artificial CAFE regulations?
In my opinion (admittedly biased by living through the Honda VCM class action), the designers of this god-forsaken "technology" are smart enough to make the computers do it but not smart enough to overcome physics. Think about what the engine is doing. All cylinders continue to reciprocate but some are not firing. During long highway cruises under gentle throttle (i.e., continuous AFM activation), you get differential cooling and ultimately engine oil escaping past the shrinking piston rings. All I can say is, if you have an AFM vehicle, you better check your oil level at least once per week and it would be a good practice to pay your dealer $300/ year for comprehensive induction cleaning.

This guy. $38,450 is my MSRP. I don't need / want a V8. I want leather and all the goodies. You are right I could have bought a bare bones base SS at this price. New improved V6 engine with 335 hp in a ~3500 lb car. 0-60 in just over 5 seconds and over 100 mph in the 1/4. Perhaps you have missed previous discussions. This is faster than the LT1 gen 4 camaro's. A BMW 228i (turbo 4) MSRP is $44,000 optioned out. The 235i MSRP is $55,000 optioned out!!! I've now done comparison pricing on 3 different cars for you. Do we need to keep going?

I was told that on the V8 you can turn the AFM off when setting the car to track or sports mode.

Fine, but Camaros aren't luxury cars. If you want the goodies, buy a luxury car. If you want power, buy a V8. Guys, feel free to blow your money on whatever you want, but paying damn near $40K for a V6 Camaro?? Guess that's how GM stays in business.

Exactly, they stay in business and still make a Camaro because they build cars for people other than V8s.

Dear, it is 2016. This is not 2005, 2007 or 2012. People can get heated in cooled seats with lane assist in a 30k dollar CUV. If they are purchasing a mid $30k car, it better have all that stuff. If you do not want it, thats ok, you dont have to get it. But some people want to have a cooled butt while cruising around in a big V8 muscle car.

Umm...sure, remember $4.00 a gallon gasoline - the market will also drive innovation, we may not like them, but others do. Regulations are often driven by us consumers and citizens, some agree some don't.

You're looking at about 33K for an ecoboost mustang equally equipped. Throw another 2K on there if you want the performance package.

When it comes to this car, I probably have a different mindset than most because it's not my DD. Personally, I would not want a nice Camaro (or any nice car as a DD). Too many morons on the road.
