Outside of the M4 the BMW M series car haven't really done anything lately for me enough to consider one over a Camaro. Also back seat and trunk space is not even a factor in terms of what I want in a performance vehicle. Camaro just feels better on the twisties and the curves and is at a better price point than an M2 and M3. Starting price for an M2 according to BMW website is 62k and M3 is in the 70k range. Performance wise I am basing this on an 2022 M3 a friend had when I was in Connecticut at my Dads funeral last year that he let me drive. Haven't driven an M4 so I will have to take other peoples experiences etc on that.

A 2SS and a base M240i are very close in price range. Of course, the challenge will be finding a base M240i unless you special order one. Their performance on paper is very similar as well: Camaro https://www.caranddriver.com/chevrolet/camaro-2023 C/D TEST RESULTS Zero to 60 mph: 3.9 sec Zero to 100 mph: 8.8 sec Zero to 130 mph: 15.4 sec Rolling start, 5–60 mph: 4.2 sec Top gear, 30–50 mph: 2.3 sec Top gear, 50–70 mph: 2.6 sec Standing ¼-mile: 12.2 sec @ 118 mph Braking, 70–0 mph: 150 ft Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.96 g M240i https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...y-the-numbers/ C/D TEST RESULTS 60 mph: 3.6 sec 100 mph: 9.1 sec 1/4-Mile: 12.1 sec @ 114 mph 130 mph: 16.2 sec Results above omit 1-ft rollout of 0.2 sec. M2 on paper is close but seeing as I wasn't too impressed with my friend's M3 compared to the Camaro I would be less impressed with the M2. I am not saying they are bad cars just saying it is more of a disappointment. A 1SS, 1SS 1LE or my LT1 with hopefully soon to be wider rears are still my choice. EDIT: I would still prefer my car even with the 245s though. Camaro gave me something that so far nothing has been able to match enough performance wise well outside of much much much more expensive vehicles probably and possibly a C8.

From my experience a Camaro SS 1LE has enough going for it to make most competitions come down to the driver and not the car. Yeah there are a few cars out there that even with a mediocre driver can beat a 1LE, but there aren't very many and I can honestly say I've been beat a grand total of twice, both by supercharged hemis. I was surprised that a Porsche got froggy with me last month as they usually don't stoop to running against Camaros. I'm sure he wished he hadn't.

I’m gonna say it must be on the strength of the M3 50th Anniversary Commemorative Edition I got to spend a few hours with today. I have yet to drive a Shelby GT500 or a C8 Z06, but until I do I have to say I have never driven anything with the braking performance of this particular M3. These brakes are freight train quality.
It certainly needs the braking performance to support the raw power of this beast. I did drive it back to back with my own 50th anniversary and there was no contest in terms of power, braking, or even handling. My car is a SS, not a ZL1 or 1LE, but the M3 handling was considerably more focused and capable than my own car. It oughta be for the price. One of the more interesting features is that the instrument cluster has a setting where you can see the power and torque you’re generating real time. At one stoplight launch I went in about half throttle and the cluster tells me I reached 510 hp, 479 lb-ft getting to 70 before I backed it down. Freaky fast.

LOL yeah it is kind of ugly. Thank for your input Martin I appreciate your opinion of the M3 and while I wish I had similar experiences with the car it just did not put that big grin on my face like the Camaro does.

Same here, I miss my 2017 2SS. Went through all sorts of different cars since then (BMW, Porsche, Challenger, Miata etc.) and I miss the great handling and thrilling V8 MT6 speed 2SS. I just sold my last BMW, will be dropping off the new M2 list and not patiently waiting on the 2023 2SS 1LE.

Yes a track ho, car junky waiting on my Camaro fix! It was produced in the beginning of January, sitting in a parking lot with no ETA. Yeah that sucks.

Is your dealership located in NC or another state? The dealership I purchased my 1LE from was in SC about an hour south of Charlotte. My car was shipped by train to a rail yard near Columbia then trucked to the dealership. It took approximately 8 weeks to get from the plant to the dealership in early 2022. Doesn't sound like shipping has improved since then. Are they waiting on any backordered parts to be installed before shipping it?
