Great job Op. Don't listen to these folks stating you only beat the driver and not the car. A 630-rwhp A6 ZL1 is a solid 10-second ride. It's going to take a very skilled driver in the manual GT500 to knock you off, even then the efficiency of the A6 might be too much to overcome.

Regardless, another win in my books against the rivalry :-). Hahaha

Here is a stock ZL1 vs stock GT500 ....

I saw a new GT500 at MIR in the spring running low 11's at 126 with paper plates on the car in decent air. A little better representation of the difference:

I love all the criticisms that he only beat the driver because the lighter, more powerful car should always win.

Well then why the hell drag race at all? Why is it even a hobby or sport? Just compare dyno sheets and dry weights in parking lots and high 5 your friends?

Imagine the adrenaline...a race he should have lost based on all the issues (weight & HP, transmission advantage notwithstanding).

This is the whole point. Line up against the faster car and actually win.

Rock on OP!

Good kill 5,

Now, how were you able to input those little messages on your HUD and radio screen?

If anyone else is like me, I'll race whoever wants to race regardless of whether or not I'm statistically supposed to lose. We aren't telling the OP not to race a car that's supposed to beat him on "on paper" at all.. we are simply saying that based on the horsepower and weight of both cars, the GT500 should have won, with almost certainty. We are talking about 30 more RWHP, and around 500lbs less. More power + less weight = a win in anyone's book.... UNLESS there is driver error, which is why everyone is saying the GT500 had a bad driver. And for the ones saying "it's not hard to drive a manual once you're already rolling" .... a bad/inexperienced driver with a manual trans has a greater chance of missing a shift, shifting too early, or too late during a race. Sure, it happens to even experienced drivers, but more so on the inexperienced side, which this could have been / probably was the case in this instance. It was a good kill for the ZL1 regardless, and I'm happy for him. Winning is winning.

Many don't realize there is a difference between Auto whp and manual whp. Also the Zl1 has more aggressive gearing. Having an auto with high whp combined with aggressive gearing will give a manual gt500 a tough time even from a roll, and its excessively tall gearing is not helping in this case.

Palmer Performance Dash Logic - it connects to OBDii and allows you to display data to three locations (dic, radio, and HUD) but you can also do custom writing like I did. You have three profiles on the device and each profile has 8 pages which display diff parameters that you can customize. You scroll through the pages by using the door lock.

I mainly bought this because I can control my NPP exhaust with it. When cruise is on, my NPP is closed. When cruise is off, NPP is open.

Think the biggest reason everyone says you beat the driver is due to how the story is portrayed. Listing power numbers and cute HUD messages gives off the vibe of I straight up beat this car not I'm a better driver. It's pretty obvious he should've got slaughtered but driver skill or lack there of saved the day.

Outcome of things on paper dont always translate to real world events....this is a fact for many things..sports..pro fights...and drag racing. Outcomes are not guaranteed.. thats why we do it. If people always think the better team ..or better fighter..or faster car wins. We wouldnt have anybody doing anything. So.....a win is a win ...doesnt matter what the event. Congrats OP.
