I'm hoping they placed it there because:
1. if behind wheel well, take's trunk space? 2. we may be some air duct on the hip? If you look at the C7, it is also placed directly behind the door, in front of rear wheel well. Anyway, probably doesn't stand to reason, but maybe it could happen. |

That's a straight shot to the tank. The Gen 5 tank is directly beneath the rear seat and with the fuel door behind the wheel, the plumbing is wonky.
This appears to be a "form follows function" deals.
