As for the name, I take it you didn't watch the cartoon as a kid. There's worse than Cliffjumper. There was Huffer. Reflector. Laserbeak. Mixmaster (a cement truck.)

...okay, I kinda like the name Mixmaster for a cement truck, actually...

well everyone who actually watched the show way back when would remember that Bumblebee was a VW bug and was very efeminate ala C3PO from Star Wars , I guess alot has changed since I was a kid because Bumblebee was far from cool and Cliffjumper was little more than a background character

Kind of... even if he only qualified as a background character, he was effectively Bumblebee after growing a pair. Pretty much always willing to stand up and, at times, look for a fight.

With shaved door handles, we painted the roof black to make it look chopped, almost badge-less, headers, exhaust cut outs, painted interior accents, a blower... Hot Rod sounds close.

Well, Hot Rod was never a real car. He was added to the show with the animated movie (or slightly before) and was one of a batch that transformed into futuristic cars (Blur, Arcee, etc.).

This is Hot Rod in his sports car days. Later he led the Autobots and became what was basically an RV.


Sideswipe started as a red Lamborghini Countach. In the latest movie, he was a concept anniversary Corvette.


Sideswipe was one of my favorites growing up, especially when the second generation version used the same car, but with a black paintjob.



Most recently (before the lastest movie), he transformed into a Gallardo... at least pretty much.




I forgot one. Sideswipe's "brother" was Sunstreaker, but he was a gold/yellow Countach.
