Both amazing cars! I had a feeling your DRs would help. What was the tire pressure that night? What RPM did you launch at?

Wish I could have made it out there.

Car looks great.....and I also have a Grand Cherokee Altitude as my daily (Silver with 20 X 10" OZ Superturismo Dakar w/285/50/20 Terra Grapplers)

I made it out to Lapeer Saturday.....not the fastest car, but I am very consistent!

13 SS/1LE LS3, OEM Z/28 intake, ported throttle body are the only mods, tires were Nitto NT-05 ( not the NT-05R drag radial)

Thanks and I agree! Both cars were at 20#'s. And I was launching around 4-5K. It was hard to get the RPM's consistent, it happens so fast. But hopefully next time it will be better

A 1.7 60' is good, especially for a novice. It's tough getting all that hp to the ground. You will get better with time. What did your father run and what was his trap speed?

Thanks! And nice job Matt. And yes you are very consistent. As you know it's all in the launch. I have over 200 horsepower then you but my best time is less then a second better then yours, that just shows how bad I suck, lol. I wonder if if I really knew how launch this thing, what kind of numbers I could get. Those damn hellcats on drag radials are getting in the 10's. It's hard to imagine I'm going to lose over a second to get it into the 10's. I have less weight and more power. Are you in the Detroit 5th gen club? Not sure if I have met you or not. I've only been to a couple events with the club and been to Woodward on the weekends here and there

He was in the low 13's and was frustrated also. He had his stock tires that were not hooking up very well. I don't recall his speed. That 1.7, I did once along with a 1.9. The other 10 were in 2.0-2.3 range. I appreciate the compliment, I feel next time will be better. My trap speed was consistent around 115-116, which I felt was low also. Someone told me about pulling your floor mats out and thought that it was a joke until I started to looked around and notice everyone's floor mats out, lol.

I haven't seen your car before so I don't believe we have met. I am friends with Becky D from Rodgers (bought 2 cars from her then became her road race instructor ) and she is in the club but I am not a member. I know some others as well, but prefer cruising around vs parking on WW.

Drag racing like road racing is all about seat time. The more you get out the better you will be.

Matt

Your trap speed really surprises me. I had much the same experience last year and came away red faced because I couldn't launch with TC off. I ran 12.8 with 2.0 60s but my trap was 118. The only saving grace was that I did it three runs in a row within a couple of hundredths of each other. That was with the old tires. I'm going to try again this year with the R-888s which aren't DRs, but should be much better due to width and tread. Both those cars are gorgeous by the way.

I was surprised by the trap speeds also. But it was a consistent 116. I don't get it. I felt like I should ve been in the low 120's, I just chalked up it at not taking off fast enough and that was my speed was low. But I'll do better next time. Thanks for the compliment!

Regarding your trap speed:

Blower cars heat soak. Heat soak reduces HP. The more your car sat around in the lanes off or even idling the more HP will be reduced from the heat soak. Going from a dead stop to the end of the track does not cool the blower enough to get its full potential. NOW if you drove the car 5 miles on the freeway and came to a stop and then launched it the car would make more power...I use to cool my turbo car down for an hour or more before my hero runs and push it in the staging lanes with it off and fire it up just before I did the burnout.

Just for S&Gs I looked at the Density altitude on Friday the 19th at noon for Milan. DA barley effects forced induction cars as they "bring their own atmosphere" but I was curious. Essentially, the DA /weather had no effect on your car that day as the times are almost the same.

That's really interesting information you posted there. But it doesn't make sense. At the bottom it says that highly modified supercharged engines were the slowest?can you explain that? I hot lapped it 4 times in a row, with pretty much the same results.
