At this point, I do not know what the needed upgrades are. As soon as I talk to Frank from DSS on Monday morning I will update this thread with the details. If Frank charges me anything to perform the upgrade then I will add that amount onto the price of the axles.

DSS at some point made a change to their axles. These particular axles are from circa 2010 or 2011 and don't have the engineering changes that were incorporated into the later axles.

Frank from DSS has stated that he can take the earlier axles and perform the upgrades to them. As I said, I do not yet have any of the details regarding what the "upgrades" actually are.

Bhall82 might have some insight on this though.

Ok, so I just got off the phone with Frank from DSS.

The axles I have, have different diameter shafts. and the inner bearing races are made of 4340 steel and not 300m.

The upgrades consist of replacing the smaller diameter shaft with a larger one, and replacing the inner bearing races with ones made from 300m steel.

Frank has stated he will do the needed upgrades to the axles for free! I'm driving them up to Salsbury NC to drop them off at their shop today. He said they'd need them for a couple of days.

Price of the axles will remain a firm $700.00.

Damn it, if I had the extra cash right now, I'd take them up in a heartbeart. Right now isn't a good time. Good luck with the sale man, and congrats on the potential new house purchase.

Do you think if I bought them frank could ship them directly? My car goes in for blower/meth stuff on the 15th If i could swing this and get them all done at the same time that would be great. Also has the warranty expired on them even with the upgrades being preformed?

I'm sure that could be arranged. I'll have to speak with Frank again about the warranty question.

Airborne0073 has first dibs on the axles, if he falls through I'll let you know.

ha ha, sorry buddy. You should take this opportunity to separate your brake fluid reservoir and clutch slave cylinder!

So.....

Imagine my surprise when I picked up my axles, got home and opened the box and saw these:

I was flabbergasted to say the least. I called the shop back because I thought someone had made a mistake. But amazingly, they just gave me a BRAND NEW set of Level 5 1,400 hp axles instead of my older level 5 1000 hp axles that I gave them. This is a true testament to the level of customer service that you receive when dealing with Frank and co. at DSS. Frank I think it's pretty safe to say that you have a customer for life.
