Z28. IROC should remain dead unless there's a revival of the racing series. Otherwise it's just BS, like that laughably lame ricer knockoff that 6LE puked into existence.

Don't forget when the IROC first came out, it was technically an "IROC-Z Z-28" which you can see on the lower rocker panels of the early cars. I think '88 is when it became its own thing. That said, the IROC was an awesome car, BUT I think they did the right thing by keeping the nameplate retired because it was an icon of the 80's and should stay that way.

As for a new Z28, I'd have liked to see a NA 6 speed car, so maybe the LT2 as the powerplant.

IROC Series was revived in 2022. It's now called the NASCAR Cup Series.

It's a well documented rumor that it's difficult to land the highly coveted Pepto Bismol sponsorship. Those guys run a tight ship.

The old IROC series is not the same as the NASCAR Cup Series as someone posted.

That depends on which Z28 you’re talking about.

The originals, ‘67-69 with that SCCA-spec 302 and their spiritual descendants from 2014-15 with the naturally aspirated 427 which were all track focused, light weight, had heavy duty suspensions and only manual transmissions and even in 2014-15 could be built without air conditioning……

Or any other Camaro that was pretty much every other V8 Camaro from 1970-2002, lots of which were great but many had to endure the malaise era.

I know which one I’d pick!

the 67-69's were not 'light weight' and track focused. it was simply an option package to homologate parts, mostly the 302 engine.. A narative developed around the 2014 that somehow the first gens were race cars on the street. They were not. And any car back then could be had without air conditioning. in fact i just watched Raiti's Ride's review of a 1970 the other day and... no air conditioning.

The part about air conditioning was the 2014-15. Few cars could even be ordered without it by then. Of course no a/c was common on any car in the late 60s. As far as GM goes I think at the time only Cadillac had it as standard equipment.
