You wonder why a large untuned cam isn't running right? Even if you did have an issue you won't be trouble shooting anything like that.

PR length seems a little short for that that cam imo. I've personally never used anything that short with a NF cam install.

You can't get the camshaft 180* wrong since it's pinned and you'd have to literally have the timing mark on the Cam gear at the 1:30 (ish) position if that were the case.

Lifter preload shouldn't be an issue unless you have a collapsed lifter. It's a straight 22 ft/lbs of tq at each rocker and it's done.

Even the rowdiest of camshafts will start right up normally and the car will run untuned long enough to capture DTCs or at least tell if it's running right. P0300 is perfectly right in this situation. It will need and require a tune or will run like crap.

Good luck and let us know if we can be of any tech help to ya.

Well I've got some loud noises from the passenger side valve train....from inside it almost sounds like a squeaky belt....but its coming from the area of cyl 4.....I pulled the valve cover and everything seems inline and tight....what will a compressed lifter do?

And Ivan I had preordered the 7.425(due to recommendations) and checked the pushrod length(had some trouble at first due to measuring on cyl #1 exaust due to checking cam6-crank12, and not 12-12....first time measuring

7.425 is too short?? Thats what Im running with my NF. My car started right up on the stock tune. I have my own HPT cable so I was able to at least raise the idle to get it to the dyno, but the car should run and you should be able to drive it very cautiously to the tuner. Check your header tubes when its running to see if you have any really hot tubes or cold tubes. Then you could narrow it down to an individual cylinder.

Start it with the valve cover off and see if you can pin point it.

Did you check the underside of the cover to see if there was any marks? Im almost wondering if when you were putting your pushrods in, you caught the lip of the lifter instead of the bowl, and when the pushrods comes up, its causing the rocker to hit the cover. Kinda hard to diagnose not standing next to the car. That squeaking noise can be the push rod rubbing against the block because its at an angle.....

Wow thats terrible. Sounds like somethings touching. Like not enough rocker to spring retainer height distance. Maybe a bad lifter or to much/not enough preload.

Thats terrible though.
