Yeah, if I don't see any threads on the back side of the nut, then I can't be sure it's completely filled. Now that nut is just real tight, not fully torqued. Once I am able to get both installed and torqued, I'm expecting/hoping due to the compression of the bushing I'll have better engagement.
In my line of work, it's not a rule of thumb, it's a regulation. I still feel something isn't quite right otherwise I would have found some posts when I googled it, and I imagine there are quite a few installs out there. |

Take the urethane bushes out and let them warm in the sun or hot water to siften them. That may be all you need to get her bolted down. I won't hurt anything and might work.

Finally
I ended up using large channel locks to squeeze the one side down enough that someone from the top could get the nut started. Once both nuts were torqued, it squeezed the bushing just enough. Something I'll keep an eye on for a bit though. |
