Nice thing about the diy route, you can change the throw to be where YOU want it... Most of the aftermarket shifters I had previously researched had way too much reduction for me personally.

Weirdly enough though, side by side photos of the Hurst and stock shifters show that they're the same length, so I don't understand how that works. Lol

Just for kicks here's a couple old threads on random shifter info/experiments I've done.

DIY Short throw shifter by modifying stock shifter *WARNING* This is long
I need to go back and update it with more pictures of the process. My modified stock shifter (about a 20% throw reduction) has been in my 2010 for about 4.5 years. I started out with something closer to 30%, but I didn't like it.

I was pretty disappointed in the ZL1/1LE factory "short throw shifter"

You can modify your stock shift lever in less than 30 minutes if it's already out of the car. Best $350 I never spent ... Because if I would have bought a short throw, it probably would have been an MGW.

My next upgrade will be a short throw shifter.
After doing a LOT of reading, i'm going to step up and get the MGW.
From what I've read, if you use both the Hurst and MGW the MGW wins hands down.
Tax refund will be here soon... I'm looking forward to it!
