It wouldn't have mattered what kind of car, he wasn't going to drive. Just sayin', prom night might not be the best time to be a cool dad when it comes to the Camaro. Good luck. |

Thanks for all the input, I knew I could rely on all of you. I am going to let him take it. I guess thats the purpose of insurance

Good choice my dad let me take his car before I got my camaro. Just make sure he doesn't take any other friends it in, doesn't let other people drive it (but its a manual so you should be good, tell him to park it away from everyone, and most importantly watch out for those blind spots!

NO!!!.Good way to get him and his date killed. My daughter wanted to take my new Mustang to their prom. Told them no. A little pouting and foot stomping, but she survived it. And she is still alive.

Everyone is talking speed - my first thought was "where's he going to park it to make sure no one messes with it or dings it?"
However all said if I was in your shoes my answer would be 'no', but that's me & it's your call. |

I'd take the back seat out. Well the bottom part of it anyway. Don't want him getting any ideas

If you have to ask, then I'd say the answer is no.... I like the idea of meeting him there and taking the car, then you don't have to worry about it....

I'd ask him if he really wants to take it and have to worry the whole time about someone scratching it, smashing into it, etc. He'll have a lot more fun at the Prom if he's not worried about the car. Let him take pics with it, take his date for a ride before, but don't park it at the prom....asking for trouble.

Hell yes let him take it, you have insurance, he is going to be nervous anyway so he isnt going to do anything crazy. It will earn you points in the long run

He will never be able to earn your total trust unless you give him the opportunity to make the right choices.
Trust is EARNED. Let him earn yours.

Let him take it. There are going to be so many people watching him that he would be fool to do anything but respect your wishes it for it.
I had the chance to take a 10th anniversary Trans Am to my senior prom and will never forget it.

Let him drive the camaro TO prom, with you driving behind him in his car. Then once they get to the prom just swap keys and you can take the camaro home. That way he's still the cool kid who got to show up in the camaro AND you don't have to worry about door dings or him "showing off" |
