ATS is basically the closest we can get to the 6th gen right now so to say it's not a good comparison is stupid.

To many get hung up on the number of cylinders. There has already been a 4 cylinder in the Camaro and if not now, there will be down the road. Our elected officials have all but assured us of that with 2016 through 2025 CAFE.

And I was saying not a good comparison because ppl don't think of a V8 when you think luxury! So therefore most won't care how small of a engine it has!

The 2.0L Turbo is putting out pretty similar performance as the v6 but it is lighter and gets better gas mileage. Im not sure people driving the v6 would mind the difference too much.

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2013/11/...four-cylinder/ Bonus question: Is Al Oppenheiser also one of those obnoxious "V8 only" guys who refuses to get with the times due to obstinacy? Or does the chief engineer for Camaro have valid reasons for wanting to keep the cylinder count high? |

I agree the 4 banger with or without turbo wont do it justice as a muscle car. |

If he is quoted as telling anyone what the specific content will or won't be fine. I never saw it. I saw him quoted as saying he didn't want to see a 4 cylinder in the Camaro. So if there is a quote from him that says, "there is no 4 cylinder in the Gen 6" awesome. What I believe he said was, "I really don't think there should be a 4 cylinder in the Camaro". Two completely different statements.

More important to the point, the guy who engineers Camaros doesn't believe in a 4 cylinder Camaro. Wake up. |

I went back and re-read the original post. According to that info, it is true that there was no definitive statement, just that the engineer wasn't planning a 4 cylinder. But that was well over a year ago. Also read where he said if the Camaro is no longer a Camaro it could be taken out. This line had about as much definitive context as the no four cylinder statement.
I see it this way, this car is very popular for many different reasons, and not just because it's a "muscle" car. Not everybody buys them because they're fast and loud. I'm not sure what the exact figures are over the run of the 5th Gen, but I would hazard a guess that V6 sales are at least 2-1 over V8 sales. Heck, I live in Texas and the ratio of what I see on the road is at least that. The Camaro is an important car for GM. It fills a space in the line up that they really need to protect. They sell a lot of them, and this means that it will need to be offered in a package that will meet the CAFE criteria. So I don't care if they make some of them with a 4 cyl. As long as they continue to make the performance versions for the enthusiast. |

Why *some* of the V8 owners have their undies so pent up in a wad over this....I don't understand it. BUY THE DAMN V8 AND FORGET IT.

I truely only have two things to say.
1. Auto manufactures are being forced into these changes by the federal government because of the dependancy on oil and the changing enviroment. 2. If there will no longer be a v8 camaro, I personally will never own another camaro, period. We all have choices. 3. goodbye Nascar. |
