You know, with all the talk of a Z/28 option, maybe the ZL1 is the option for now, and they are going to come out with another option that will have the LS9 or derivative based very similar to the upcoming ZR1, possibly with a calling for direct injection. All in high hopes, but you can't fault me for wishing...

Again let's consider all the options... the shelby basically has Cold air and headers from the factory.. so it can take in and exhaust a lot better as well... either way the numbers are really good.

Seems as though the 500 is peaking @ about 65-6600 rpm...which means the "8-second over-rev" function is at play on the dyno...which wouldn't be at play at all times, otherwise.

Also heard the Z had a cat back. Really isnt worth mentioning though.
What RPM would a ZO6 be at in 2nd gear doing 70mph becuase it might not be at the sweet spot of the ZO6's motor vs the GT500 which is going to make torque and boost just about everywhere.

95 RWHP is a BIG advantage but does the fact that theres less drivetrain loss mean that it can hook up to out perform the lower HP car?
I wanna see the race!!

I think he might be suggesting the certification numbers never made it to the over rev area, but I could be wrong.

And I haven't tried it, but I'm thinking the car keeps you out of the over rev area until to a specified level of warm up.

is this on you tube? I would be very surprised by this especially once the ZO6 gets to over 120mph

Possibly. Even so, at 6k rpm it's putting down just a hair under 600rwhp. I can't imagine a scenario where you would be above 6250rpm for 8 consecutive seconds without making a top speed run though. In any race the over-rev feature is going to be in play.

Hope the ZO6 gets the driver mod and rings it out to 7k with some power shifting.

the shelby has a much better exhaust sound too.it sounds like a racecar!!
when on the dyno you see it wanted to jump over the wheel chocks! lots of power..

i would have like to see a ZL1, with a straight diff like the shelby has, no irs..maybe there's some gain there??
i'm impressed.
