Just curious but why did you guys order your cars as compared to buying one off the lot? Here in TN, there are quite a few in inventory but I was willing to deal with the ordering and the wait. Personally, I ordered because I wanted my vehicle exactly the way I ordered - 2SS, SIM, black interior, RS and Hurst. I plan to keep this car forever so I didn't want to sacrafice on what I wanted. My other biggest concern was that I wanted to be the first and only to drive it. I didn't want a vehicle that had been dogged on during the critical first few hundred miles....

What's your story?

Couldn't find what I wanted and wasn't willing to settle for second best. Dealer said 4-6 weeks the car should be here. Someone backed out on an order and they would just change there order to what I wanted and be real fast. I thought cool that works. Needless to say I placed order September 10th. Now here I am waiting for my perfect car to be built next week. The good news is I'm still just excited as I was the day I ordered it.

Cgm/black 2ss/rs sunroof hurst... Dreams about to be reality.

They didn't have what Kim wanted on the lot. Actually only had 2 on the lot. A 2SS with a 6 speed and a 2LT with an auto. Neither was what she wanted, so we ordered.

Pretty much similar reason. Simply put...every IOM I saw that was close to what I wanted had a sun roof and I don't want that because I am 6' 3" and need the headroom. Also wanted to capture that Hurst which was a rare commodity when I first narrowed down what I wanted. I have never ordered a new car but had bought new ones off the lot. This is my midlife crisis so my wife said...order what you want and get it out of your system! LOL

32 years ago I sold my Hugger Orange 1969 SS-396 and I have regretted it ever since. Thus Orange Krate (my childhood Schwinn bike was an Orange Krate) is born. BTW... my order number is PGNB7H so maybe I should have named it "PAGAN". DOH!!

I am going to have my ground FX painted to match the IOM and below is a sample of how I am going to paint the stripes. Haven't decided on how much from stock I will modify the car because I want to keep it as close to original as possible and California is fuhcocktah for any kind of engine mods with the NEW smog laws coming soon. It was already bad and it is going to get worse!!!

I ordered IBM 2ss/rs sunroof M6 w/ hurst shifter. I place it on 10/22 and TPW 11/15 lucky me. I think my dealer got allocation thou I didnt push him much on time of delivery. for all of you waiting for long time I wish you get your car sooner than expected. And enjoy every moment owning one or even two of those monsters <<pointing at Becky>>

Mods will be very basic nothing to the mechanics as of now

- 3M Clear Bra (still looking expert instaler) Its a must IMO in here.
- Painted shark fin (get ready Becky)
- carbon fiber venyl boutie or replace it with IBM painted one. still thinking!
- baby car seat i guess, any one can help? my baby boy is 1.5 years old.

So... I went to the California DMV 6 months before I ordered my car and reserved a personalized plate. I figured that what I requested was already going to be taken. I was shocked when they said it was available... I got lucky!!! It is waiting for me at the AAA for pickup as soon as I get the loan docs and birth certificate from the dealer! What do ya'll think??? Come on Orange Krate...come to Daddy!!!

I also couldn't find exactly what I wanted on the lot. Most of the SIM's 2ss's had sunroofs, or were autos. I opted for 2011 instead of really searching for a 2010 just because of the hurst shifter. I know you can put an aftermarket one on afterwards, but due to finances I was looking at a December purchase anyway, so why not order exactly what I want? Ironically the dealer found an SIM with CGM stripes that I said no to instantly (because the only representation of the combo on the chevy site is awful) and now I might get those same ones put on when it gets here....
