I'm originally from UK, (12 years ago) where the driving test is actually a test and not a right of passage which it seems to be here. Everyone is taught in a stick. if you elect to take the test in an auto, you can only drive an auto and need to retake if you want stick..pretty serious stuff

Anyway -- why did i get an Auto?? Played Rugby for too many years in UK. 2 ACL replacements and arthritis all on the left knee
Plus I live in South Florida - too many bloody lights so i think the clutch leg may not thank me for that
If it were different - I'd have a manual transmission but does it really bother me? No, I've driven them all
I read all the BS about true muscle cars etc, and the little digs - but sorry - doesn't work for me.
I get enjoyment from just driving it, and modding it...

Because my wife can't drive a manual. She almost put my 92 Mustang 5.0 through the garage door years ago.

I always love these type of threads... V6 vs V8, Auto vs Manual. These are debates that will never stop, and there will never be a right answer.

But they really make me laugh. I'd bet that 80% or higher bought the V6 because they couldn't afford the V8 and I'd bet that 80% or higher bought the Auto because they can't drive a manual and have never have had the opportunity to learn. Sure there are other reasons out there, and those are the other 20%.

You forgot the 85% of vert owners who have no hair for the wind to blow through but claim that's what they love most about verts.

*don't forget that 93.45321% of all statistics on the Internet are made up on the spot. FACT

Awesome Good for you ! Most here say they prefer the Auto but in reality are too scared to learn to operate a stick.
I also liked the part about your girl driving it home. Most wouldnt admit that.

My first 15 years of driving included manuals, but the last 15 were all auto... and after that hiatus, I couldn't wait to slam gears again.

Are you sure it is "most"? I traded in a Manual TransAm for mine. I drove it for 13 years. I'm done with manuals as I feel that it has done harm to my left knee and would like to give it a break.

Manual, because the whole point of a sports car is to drive the car, not have the car drive you.
