Having same issue on my 2016 SS2! My car is a automatic so when I switch over to manual to keep car running on 8 and gear 7 it helps a lot. Drove it to beach over weekend and talking about annoying. But I also feel the transmission slip a couple of times. Calling dealership first thing!

Dealer replaced the torque converter last Thursday.

Car runs great when in automatic mode.

However, when I'm in manual mode and shifting from 4th to 5th, the shift is way rougher (sorry, don't know how to explain it better). I noticed it only does this when under more throttle and the rpm's are a little above 2500. Called the dealer back and was told that the computer needs to relearn the shift points?

I'm not very car savvy and could definitely use everyone's opinion/expertise.
Thanks in advance.

Dealer should have reprogrammed and relearned the TCM after they put in the new converter and before they gave it back to you! Some of these dealers are so damn incompetent!

It says on the work order that they did that already

Probably needs to be done again or they didn't do it right the 1st time.

There is a "learn mode" that needs to be enabled. When I had my car in for the transmission service they did the triple flush, filter replacement, TCM update, and reset the learning on the transmission. Sounds like they may have forgotten that last step.

Scheduled to take it in again this week at another dealer. I just want peace of mind you know what I mean? Lol

They told me the car needs 200-500 miles to learn the transmission again. Were you told a similar thing?

There is a way that they can relearn it when they reprogramthe TCM, that is what was done on mine last year...now the damn thing is in to have a lower gear replaced, "broke off" is what I was told!

Yes I was told 200-300 miles before I should make a determination that my issue was fixed. If they told you that then they should have done the learn mode option. Essentially when the cars are brand new the TCM "learns", to a certain extent, how the driver operates and makes adjustments in its programming. Learn mode is supposed to delete this learned data and make the TCM have to do it all over gain.

The Fast Learn Procedure can be done via HP Tuners. It does not work well if the car is tuned significantly. On my car I have to essentially revert back to a stock tune with Flex Fuel enabled. If I don't do this it will end up in an endless loop and never finish the learn.

I had the trans flush done today. No more TC shudder. Everything looked good with 24K miles on the car.

Add another to the list

This issue brought me to Camaro6. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I took my 2016 Camaro 1SS to the dealer yesterday to get the transmission cooler line recall work done. (took 6 hours by the way). I mentioned this issue to them. They seemed skeptical and told me to bring the car back and let a technician ride with me. They said it would probably require a TCM reprogram.

I first noticed the issue at about 9,700 miles. I really noticed it when driving to Memphis for the Super Chevy show. I got the vibration/rumble strip sensation big time when in cruise at 76 mph. When I give it a little gas and get it to V8 mode, it clears right up. I get the same thing at 50 mph when it goes to V4 at around 1,100 rpm.

Add me to this list! Mine started with about 8100 miles on it. Just dropped it off this morning after having a technician ride along with me one day last week so I could show them exactly what it was doing. I Just knew if I didnt have a tech ride with me they would just drive it down the road turn around and say....I dont feel anything and give me my car back.

Dealer scheduled for me to bring the car back today so I can leave it and they provided me with a loaner. Told me it may be Thursday! Fingers crossed.

Tim,

Is the Fast Learn part of the ECU or TCM? I have a 2017 and don't have access to the TCM. I haven't done the thing where I need to remove the TCM and send away to be unlocked. Just curious.

Mine is at dealer right now. They are flushing the transmission 5 times. Said they've never had one come back for a convertor after this procedure. We will see.
