Question X-Pipe vs H-Pipe vs Straight Pipe

Hi everyone. I have a 2013 Camaro SS with resonator delete straight-piped to Flowmaster 44 Series mufflers. I don't know the difference between pipe configurations. Could anyone help me by explaining both the difference in sound and performance for me, depending on which one I had? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The video of my exhaust set up I put on your axle back post is with an x-pipe. I've heard that the x-pipe allows more flow through the pipes while the h-pipe "restricts" flow, yet has a little deeper tone. Couldn't tell you much about the H or straight because I got the x-pipe the following week after I got my car. Anyone else got input? Video comparison?

OK, here we go with the exhaust:

Straight:

HPipe (I have this now):

XPipe:

Straight would be less restriction. X and h pipe are more how flow is made even. No increase in hp for stock setups. Just breathing of the exhaust...

FI or Turbos may be benefit from a 3" tube - allowing the system to breath better... those may see a bit of hp increase but, don't expect hp from just an exhaust.

BTW, all 3 clips have catless and headers...

In all 3, RWHP stayed the same, 590 RWHP

There is no measureable gain from x to h....both flow just fine.

BTW straight piped you may actually loose power without the cross over allowing it to flow better and even out the exhaust pressure across both sides of the exhaust as Its real old tech..Like Moses old.

hpipe deeper than xpipe. xpipe a bit more power that you won't even notice

I gotta say I really like the way x-pipe sounds on these cars and in general. Straight piped sounds like ass imo. H-pipe sounds good to me on the old 5.0L and 4.6L GT Mustang with Flow Delta flow 40's or original 40's.

Acoustically, X-pipe helps tighten up the two cylinder banks. More unison.

Doesn't mean it's better though. Depends on taste, and the character you are building, x vs h that is.

Been dere don dat.

On that note, pardon the pun, skip the straight pipe, and choose your poison.
