Reintroduction of the 2017 Camaro 1LS Trim
This is an exciting time for the lightest, leanest and meanest Camaro yet.
We are commemorating the 50th Anniversary of this icon and introducing the 2017 ZL1, the most powerful production Camaro ever, and the track-bred 1LE. Both are designed to deliver exhilarating performance on both the open road and the road course, and with exceptional value. To better compete in the heart of the market, Chevrolet is repositioning the Camaro entry-level model by reintroducing a manual transmission-equipped 1LS. A new lower starting MSRP will be effective on September 8, 2016 for all 1LT models and will remain in effect for the 1LS manual when it is introduced in October — making Camaro an even greater value. Beginning in October (first DOSP October 13), Camaro 1LT models equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission will become Camaro 1LS models. The new 1LS carries the same great offering of standard and optional equipment, however, it will only available with the 6-speed manual transmission. To get an automatic transmission, customers must step up to the 1LT model, where the 8-speed automatic is standard.

So it will be a 1LS with the same price as a 1LT manual? what's the difference besides the label? will the 1LS be fore both T4 and V6?

I'm totally confused by this announcement. So the 1LT manual will be $400 more than the 1LS manual but they are the same car?

Well this is stupid. Why didn't they just call it the 1ls originally?

The second part of the announcement is they've lowered the MSRP of the automatic 1LT trim by $1200. The biggest news is both of the Turbo4 trims will now have a lower MSRP than the Mustang Turbo4. Even though I would never set foot in a 4cyl in this segment, it'll be interesting to see how it does when it has a lower price than the Mustang's volume seller. |

This just sounds stupid. They say they're re-introducing the 1ls trim but the trim looks (is) exactly the same as the 1lt trim. It seems to be a difference in name only. Dictated by having a manual transmission or not.
Lame. |

And of course to further confuse you/us, compare the 1LS to the optional turbo Mustang. If the deal is to have a lower entry level car then you have to compare it to the Mustang entry level car which is the V6.

They need a 1LZ trim on a ZL1. That wouldn't AT ALL be confusing.

Chevy should just use 1s and lower-case l's for the Camaro naming convention.

or you know.. . have the base camaro not have any stupid trim modifier... Since it's the base and including a trim modifier is redundant.
I prefer the old method. base, RS, SS, and Z28 RS being an appearance pkg that can go on any motor option. SS including everything the RS includes but slightly different body trim and only on the V8 Z28 being a performance pkg on the V8 and for simplicity sake, we'll include the SS appearance pkg 1LE would just be a handling option not worthy enough to have a emblem on the outside of the car. Simple, easy to understand. |
