Agreed ...I can see the v6(being 380ish lbs) if I remember correctly. ..around that 3600lbs mark butbthe LT1 weight at 450 putting the car at 3725ish I just hoped for more....we will see I supose...and yes I understand the safety equipment in which we are all grateful for does come at a hefty price

That's exactly what Ford said about the new Mustang too, but that didn't happen.....
Anyway since the Alpha platform is lighter than Zeta it should lose weight, but in today's press release it also said 70% of the new Camaros Alpha derived chassis is unique to the Camaro.

Yeah, true. But thats FORD. They like to stretch the truth. Late 90s Cobra HP ratings, anyone?

Wasn't the C7 supposed to lose weight as well? And that didn't happen either...

Exactly exactly exactly! !!! C7 was supposed to loose weight...while the suspension and chassis lost weight over the previous model the car as a whole gained. ..Once again I say may not be the case but GM wasn't specific on the C7...or C7Z06 do that matter ...BUT anyway

The C7Z06 gained a shitton of weight. But all that piping, a supercharger, and intercooler dont help matters. Ill take the tradeoff.

With how much better the C7 is over the C6 the weight gain is a non-issue.

All GM has said is that it won't be heavier. Never said it will be lighter.

I wouldn't say new LTx per say but look how the LSx platform changed a significant amount for three car CTS-V LSA ...ZL1 LSA vs the ZR1 LS9....or the old 346ci ls1 from 315-405hp ls6...I know its complete speculation. ..but V6..detuned V6 TT...and LT1[/QUOTE]

That was my point. The LS9 and LSA are different engines. The LS1 and LS6 are different engines. I wouldn't be surprised if the only LTx engines we saw this time around are the LT1 and LT4.

The mustang was supposed to lose weight and it gained, I would be very surpised if the camaro loses much weight, maybe a 100 pounds is it.

The Mustang and Corvette were already as light as possible. The Camaro was over weight from day one. You can't compare each situation.

I disagree man the C7Z51-Z06 is not outpacing the C6 Grand Sport-Z06/Z07...or ZR1 for that matter in fact the grandsport and C7Z51 are nearly identical in every performance measure ....yes interior and handling limit and road refinement have improvements. ..but for god sakes C5Z06 3.9-4.2---- 1/4mile@12.2-12.5@113-115mph YES the car has become better developed and has a greater handling threshold ..but for god sakes I'd hope so after 11-15 years.....Weight IS an issue ..."Simplify and add lightness " Lotus engineering has used this motto like a bible GM could really take notes in that manner
