You guys are lucky. They ding us for the full purchase price in Michigan.

8-2.1 Definition of Purchase Price. Purchase price includes the full amount paid to the dealer without any deduction for a trade-in. Tax is due on the full purchase price. If there is a lease penalty for early termination rolled into the purchase price of the vehicle that charge is also subject to tax.

3%, The DOT charges a HUT (highway use tax) instead of sales tax on vehicles. Everytime the title is transferred you pay that 3%.

Damn that's half of what we pay. Just one more reason for me to get the hell out of this god forsaken state!

OP, what city are you in? Just curious, no need to answer if your not comfortable. That way I can keep an eye out for a 1LE, don't see too many.

I was kind of in the same boat as you. I bought a 2lt a year ago, because I thought the v6 with 320hp was gonna be more than enough for me. Soon I realized that I was spending a good bit in mods bc I wasn't happy with the power at all, and I didn't use the tech in the 2lt nearly as much as I thought i would (leather seats, usb connection, etc.). I regretted it bc I could have got a used SS for only a couple k. But now I'm happy with what I got cause I should be getting past SS power with a supercharger and plenty other mods under the hood, and plus this makes the car unique and I still got the luxury form the 2lt.

I would honestly say stick with what you have and make it what you want it to be. You already got a v8 with a luxury package, so you are at a pretty good start. Trading in would cost way too much, and the 1le really is more of a track car anyway.

I don't think you realize that the full set of 1le parts costs over $13k (see my earlier post with part numbers and prices), not including tax, shipping or labor. It's much cheaper to do the trade, than mod it.

They don't cost that much where I'm from, a buddy did it for way less than that. The suspension package is only $1500, and I think the gear is a few thousand that's it.

Using his numbers, they gave him $43K for his trade in and sold him a 1LE 2ss loaded for $43k as well. He only owed $40k so he only financed $40k as well. Basically he just swapped cars is what he's claiming. That's a hell of a dealer and he's a hell of a negotiator.
I saw your previous post but didn't know whether those were actual numbers the OP provided or an estimate you were using. I obviously completely missed the OP's post with the #'s.

I suppose all is good. The OP got the car he desired and will be a happier owner.

That's cool. A lot of us have "traded up" and a lot of us have thought about trading up and others have traded their way to another brand. Such is life.

Enjoy your 1LE and drive safe.

While i was at the dealer for an oil change I almost took this home today. So tempting and wrong for me to do it. But sitting in her and driving her feels so right.

OP you get that upgrade. You deserve it

High Point. Definitely have not seen any 1LE. I have really only seen LT or LS running around. No SS or Up trims.
