I cant wait to see the track times for the ZL1. I have my predictions and I think the auto version will be at least 11.7's with the stock tire. The manual.....that really depends on the driver BIG TIME. Dodge is going to have to step up ALOT!!! And not just with some sticker package or different color. It will be at least another year before we know whats going on with the new engine/trans package they are working on. Ive worked for Chrysler for about 18 years and they are so tight lipped about things that nobody knows anything with what they are doing. Every once in a while I will have a rep tell me some "hints" but thats it. The recent hints are promising but I will believe it when I see it............supercharged 6.2L................maybe 6.4L

Hey, its your house, Im a guest here.

One thing that has always puzzled me is, why this all matters so much. Yea, one will be faster than the other from the factory but, really, how many cars stay stock and, those that do, how many really drive in competition? I own an 08 GT500 right now. Its not stock and honestly, I dont race it. I have a comp car for that. I enjoy the power and I love the looks. But, I have not raced a Camaro yet (I had one leave on me but with the wife sitting in the passenger seat and being in a known speed trap area, no way) Im not afraid of Camaros but I am not OK with the idea of going to jail and the car going to the crusher. Or worse, killing someone as happens with some street racers.

OK, long way of saying, there are 07 and 08 Shelbys that will kick your ass. There are some SS Camaro's that will return the favor And fast Chalengers that will do some whoppin too! Im just not convinced this particular subject is all that important

That is not Road course, although, it is a bit crazy
IRS will handle bumps and uneven surfaces better. Evan Smith is a professional, ........... drag racer

Ive raced against many a Corvette, Camaro and even a Viper or two. I can honestly say, Ive never seen a Challenger on course

I can almost agree with that, this year alone I've been to six different track days in Laguna Seca and Infineon and haven't seen one Challenger.
The almost part is there was two SRT8 Charger magnums at laguna, by the end of the day there was only one. One of them blew a motor.

and if I may add, what kills me about all this is the racers, the ones that really care, will not have a stock car for long... Personally there isn't much out there I fear, and certainly no production vehicles... but my car is long long gone from stock... Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be able to get some introductory times from the track, though my first big goal is the Texas Mile... with a whole lot more power than I'm currently sporting...

As for factory bragging rights, that last right up until the first mod... then all bets arre off, whether it is a driver mod or a car mod...

I fit all of this in my Camaro (The 5-foot-long hardware bag for all the stands [I call it the "body bag"], rack toms, and mic stands all fit in the trunk; the rest in the back seat, folded down, and front passenger seat):


...Oh, and I'm 6'1" too and have inches of head-room to spare (did you remember to lower the driver's seat when [if] you sat in one?). I cannot lie though; it would all fit much easier in a Challenger, for sure, but the Challenger just isn't my style--to each his own, as they say.

When and where are you going to put some time in? Is the roll cage in yet? I might add, just in case there are some out there still pouting factory car=warranty, that once you are on the track, just forget about that warranty and GO MODs....

My trunk fits 4 AR-15's in their cases, 5 Mossberg 590A1's, 6 Glocks, 6 Springfield XD's, 4 S&W MP's, 3 FN FiveSevens, 2 FN FNP Tacticals, and several used rifles and shotguns...

Wouldn't catch me dead in it! Car looks good on the outside but HATE Dodges interior, that and the cost of repairs. I have worked in the Automotive Warranty business for years and Dodge/Chrysler is the worst on potential cost of repairs and or replacement parts.
Not a dig, just the facts....
