Update on noise issue:

The sound is back. Not as loud as it was originally, but definitely can hear it again. I don't know if this is a normal sound that comes from these cars(1LE's), but I know for sure I did not hear it when I had my '18 1ss.

Got the car checked out again at the dealer. After having the transmission specialist look at it, he stated that it is a normal sound. He also told me I have a 60k warranty on it so just drive the shit out of it. I guess I'll have to live with it.

Did your alternator go bad on a 23? Like a handful of months old car?

At this point i don't think the alternator went bad. I think at first that's what they figured it was, so they put a new one in.

So, an update on my car. The whine noise continued and became louder so now it is in the shop to have the transmission repaired. Will update on what they had to repair as i get info.

So, I just picked the car up from the dealership yesterday after it being there for a month. They were able to reference a service bulletin #22-NA-232 which references the 10-speed oil pump drive gear. They ended up replacing the idler gear, damaged torque converter, transmission case front cover, input shaft support bolts, transmission fluid pump, and the transmission fluid filter. The car only hit 10k miles not long ago, and my service writer told me I was lucky to have it repaired now, could have cost GM a whole new transmission. This was all covered under warranty, but it would have been quite costly if it wasn't.

So, my advice is if you hear a whine noise coming from your car, take it in and have them look up this bulletin.
