Over MSRP or not?

Spoke with a out of state dealer about a '23 they have that i am interested in, they want $5,000 over MSRP after the $750 rebate, expressed my hesitancy on paying over.
Are you guys either ordering or purchasing from stock paying over MSRP?
I thought we were getting away from that but i guess i may be in dreamland.
LOL

Not sure what model SS, but 1LE's are anywhere between 2-10k over MSRP on the west coast with very little if any inventory.

I wouldn’t pay over MSRP. I paid 20% UNDER MSRP for my Camaro 2SS when I bought it new. And just paid under MSRP *and* got 60 months 0% financing for my wife’s new Mustang GT Premium, for what it’s worth. Paying over MSRP immediately puts you upside down on a car in my opinion.

The market has changed dramatically since 2017. Most dealers know they can get at least a little over MSRP depending on the specific build, and don't mind passing on a few offers until they find a buyer.

Just got my 2ss red hot vert today at MSRP, then $750 discount, then the finance officer found $2400 more in rebates for me!

@Joshinator99,& Keko,
yes, an additionally it's a end of the model and I'm out of state buyer which I'm sure they know by my phone #i left for a callback,(and did ask what state i was in) and also that i cant find what i want close by and therefore I'm at a negotiating disadvantage.
He actually started @ $7G over and said he may be able to do $5G the car is not in yet it's in 'transit'.

When ordering you should be able to get MSRP or if you are really lucky or have connections you could get supplier discount. I got supplier months ago, but I think it may be harder to get now.

You don't see many not spoken for on the dealer lot. If you find one, then the dealer will probably ask what ever the buyer will pay.

Dealers asking over MSRP drove me to buy used. This is a terrible time to buy a Camaro though. In November I bought my 2021 ZLE A10 with PDR for $71K OTD. MSRP for 2023 was $83K + $5K market adjustment. I believe I could sell my used 2021 for what I paid……..doubt you’d get $88K for a 2023.

I wouldnt pay ADM for a LT1. If you keep looking, you might be able to find one but might have to compromise on the spec.

Would you mind elaborating the details of the extra rebates? Have not heard anyone qualifying for that much in just rebates even including the present $750. I can see supplier discount about $2k.

Good tip, i didn't put this order in it appears to be a stock order he told me there is no deposit on it currently, my plan B would be to switch to a 1SS that are available closer to home although with not the exact opt's I'm looking for, so it's going to be a compromise or i pay the piper, lol.

Dealer I ordered from in the past charged over MSRP for new stock, on my order they gave it to me for MSRP and all applicable offers & honored my GM Supplier discount. I had reached out to about 7-8 dealers prior to ordering, one wanted $1,200 for paint protection, etc as mandatory, and another wanted $1,900 over MSRP on an order. I think if you look hard enough you’ll find one at MSRP, or at least be able to order one at MSRP.
