Cracked Exhaust System

Took my SS in for warranty issues, the infamous TC shudder, the occasional headliner and an exhaust rattle.

The TC problem is well known and they did the flushing

The headliner problem at the front edge, they are replacing the headliner

The exhaust was a surprise. There is a TSB for a rattle under the car on the drivers side. I didn't bother looking at it before taking it in cuz it sounded like a metal rattle. Imagine my surprise when they said it was cracked. I hadn't read about any others having this problem. I'll post a pic when I get it. They're replacing the whole thing.

Anybody else have a cracked exhaust. Not the manifolds

Do you have the details of the tsb? I have exactly what you described on my 2017 but only noticed it after the TC flush. I was thinking they didn't attach a heat shield properly or something.

I'll get it tomorrow and post it. But it does have to do with either the heat shield or bracket related to the exhaust and how it hangs on the trans.

TSB 17-NA-011 Dated 1/17

There's a tab welded to the up-stream cats that bolt to a bracket that bolts to the bellhousing, manual or auto

Pic

Here is the failed exhaust.
You're looking forward from the rear. This is where the left bank and right bank meet at the back of the tans. The tab is meant to add strength and reduce vibration..... didn't work

Wow, is this on A8 only? That looks like there was stress put on the exhaust system.
