Whatever intake you get, buy one with a cold air scoop. If you dont, your going tobe breathing in engine bay temperture air which can reduce the amount of timing your vehicle accepts.
Im a vararam fan if they make it for your vehicle |

Cold Air Inductions with an optional scoop.
ADM, Jannetty, Apex and others, make scoops. A K&N will give you only about half the power gains of this set up. The Vararams don't dyno well, but a lot of people swear by them and claim that they only perform at speed. The CAI w/scoop setup performs well on the dyno, as well as at speed.

When I switched over to the tune only Vararam, my tuner told me he had to adjust my tune for the additional airflow with the Vararam. We would go out and street tune the car up to XXX speeds. |

I have had no issues with my Cold Air Inc. easy install and looks great.
Right after install: After painting it white and adding my painted engine cover, strut tower brace, strut caps and wiring harness cover:

This is correct. I tell that to folks all the time. You can switch from intake to intake and not worry about the tune, but if you switch to the Vararam, please come back to me so I can make sure it doesnt lean out because it will at speed.

Pick what you like and can afford. There's a lot of K&N hate on here and a lot of CAI nut swingers. There may be a 2-3 hp difference between ANY of them. Funny thing is if you look at the Z28 intake it's made by K&N except for a dry flow filter. And it is more then good enough for that engine. I have seen some used K&N's go for about $125 and were like brand new because of all the hate. The CAI is a $400 unit and uses shrink wrap to keep the air breather in place!! Not very well thought out imho. But that's my opinion. I will say on a dyno session I say a 11hp and 13ft/lb difference on a friends 13SS hood closed with a K&N system over stock. Bone stock car with 1,300 miles on it. LS3.

I've had the k&n for over 4 years now. No complaints. I've never dyno'd my car to see any results but I doubt there is a huge difference in HP gains. I'd save the extra money and also get a ported tb. I got mine from bo. This combination has been great for me so far

I have the K&N Typhoon and it works quite well on the 14 design
The 14 design is different than the prior version quite a bit First there is airflow going through down low rising through the hood that the K&N scoops some in this design I pulled the clam shell from over the engine and it really started working really well I still say the headers is where the super show starts Now on to the vararam it and pipeline are the only cold air intakes that require a tune So that tells you which ones deliver the most Furthermore those making the numbers at the track use vararam I hear The rest of them it's more which one looks best to you There have been NO tests on the 14 using cold air intakes The car is different and I've owned them both Cold air intakes work a lot better in the 14 IMHO
