Could you be more specific about the smell? Where do you smell it strongest (interior or exterior? If it's exterior, is it up at the engine or around the wheels/brakes or around the exhaust? (I you're in a closed garage I know it might be hard to pin down) Is it plasticy or rubbery? Is it an automatic or manual?

It’s an automatic and I would say the smell is coming from the front. Again it’s extremely faint and my wife thinks it could be because it’s new. I do not smell anything in the interior ever except that new car smell LOL

I agree with your wife, see if the smell does not go away after a long drive to two

Could it be the shredded rubber on the rear quarter panels.

If it's a brand spanking new car, it is absolutely normal to have a burnt smell from my experiences of owning several new cars. It can last up to 2K miles, but usually goes away for me within a week or so if it's a DD (around a couple hundred miles or so). If the smell doesn't become fainter and becomes stronger, or the car starts running like garbage at any time, I would of course get it checked. Other than that, again, from my experience, the faint burn smell on a new, very low mileage car has been normal.

EDIT: Also, congrats on the new SS!

Mine did the same thing although mine isn't a 2SS I also have the 6.2L. At 1900 miles it still kind of does it but it is too the point where it doesn't anymore.

Every new vehicle I've owned had the smell until a few hundred miles then go away once all the residue from manufacturing gets burned off.

From past experience with far too many new cars, the exhaust tends to give off a bad odor for up to a couple of thousand miles or so, depending on how long your drives are. With this car, it seems to dissipate quickly as the exhaust tends to get hot quickly - even on very short drives. Once that burns off, you should smell it any more.

But, as others have said or alluded to, the exact smell itself would be of more interest to understand to know whether what you're experiencing is truly normal or not.
