Loud Paddle Shifters

So, I love going manual mode on my A8, but it feels awkward for me personally to shift using the auto-shifter. I like keeping both hands on the wheel and shifting with the paddles.

PROBLEM. It's so damn loud! The clicking mechanism is loud and doesn't sound satisfying, it's not a nice mechanical sound, it's a cheapo plastic click.

Does anyone know a way to dampen the sound of this plastic mechanism?

Thanks in advance,

Alex

I also hate the "plasticky" feel of the paddles. I was looking at something else and found this on ebay, but not sure I want to pay the price tag for two little pieces of aluminum.
I would also be interested if other members here have used this company paddles, they have other colors and styles as well, but none of their pictures show it installed on a Camaro.

Wow indeed.

Getting metal paddles might not actually fix the sound though, it's may be the actuation of a mechanism other than the paddles making that noise.

Agreed. My last car was a 2015 200c (!) and the paddles felt better on that than my Camaro. In fact, there are quite a few things on the inside of the 200 that were nicer than my Camaro. Though I'm not going to complain too loud, since the driving experience isn't even close.

if the complaint is the noise of the switch mechanism, why are you caring about a product that just changes the lever? It's just re-using the same plastic mechanical switch mechanism.

the problem you have is with the switch that the lever is attached to. Anything that's not replacing that isn't going to solve your problem.

It was just a speculation on the switch mechanism. It is possible the plastic lever is actually hitting against something else.

Agreed. Moreover, I would imagine that a cheaply made/attached add-on lever--flimsy plastic, spongy 3M foam tape--will make the action feel even worse.
