M6 to A8
Manual guys:
How much faster and or better mileage would an auto have to be for you to switch to an automatic. Personally no amount of difference would even make me consider going to an automatic. |

then why make the thread if your mind is made up on sticking with manual? I detect a train wreck in the works here...

I didn't ask what I should do as I obviously know. I asked how other manual drivers feel.
There is no need for a train wreck as I did not ask for the opinion of automatic drivers or people that have already switched. |

OK, I'll play. 10-15 MPG.....
I wouldn't make either choice for MPG, and when it comes to performance they're both essentially equal..

i'll play tho. only thing that would make me switch to an auto is if there is a "fake" clutch and I still get to row thru gears, even if the gear box and clutch are all electrical and for simulation only. farfetched, but there it is.

I currently drive a lifted Jeep (aerodynamic brick) on 37" tires and have on order a V8 muscle car. MPG not a priority to me.
To address the fast issue, if someone gave me a Mclaren 675lt with paddle shifters I'd trade it in for three or four cars/trucks that have manuals. Edit... Or maybe a sail boat. The manual transmission of sea craft.

but lets stop this and go back on topic. if we actually do get some other serious answers to his question, which oddly he didn't answer himself, I am curious to see what others say.

Let's...attempt....to stay on topic.
All of my Camaros have been manual transmission. Never regretted it, even in traffic. However, I'm going to be purchasing the ZL1 next year...In that specific case; the performance, sound, driver engagement, and potential fuel economy benefits have me seriously considering the A10 option. |
