Track days and oil drain intervals
for those of you that do track days, do you change up your oil drain intervals?

For me I use this recommendation for track day fluid intervals:
Differential every 7 hours of track time. Engine oil every two track days, don't rely on the DIC when tracking the car. Brake fluid before each time out. If your getting into track days, I recommend this sticky on the Corvette Forum, it has a wealth of information for the novice that is applicable to anyone doing track days: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/auto...e-learned.html |

From what I have read you should bleed the whole system. A performance shop told me after replacing the stock brake fluid with a quality DOT 4 fluid, they only bleed out some at each wheel before each event to get fresh fluid at the caliper.

You should replace the whole brake fluid the first time to convert it to your DOT4 fluid, but could then only bleed it every once in a while. Again, this very much depends on how much you overheat your brakes. It is very easy to spot cooked brake fluid. So, you can just bleed right after your first track event and see how it held up. If it looks dark and dirty, your brake system is insufficient at dissipating heat, and you have to bleed the system (not flush) after every event. If it looks pretty clean, you don't need to; try bleeding every few track days instead. Read your car's signs of issues at the track. Brakes usually let you know they are becoming 'softer' way before they boil and completely let go.

I change my oil before every track day, now i only do maybe 3 a year so DD is also part of the pic. I change my diff fluid after every 2 events. I mean it's like what $17.00 for a bottle of Redline full synthetic, certainly cheap insurance. I just bleed my whole brake system and had 4 track events on it. The fluid seemed fine, but im new at this so i dont know how the fluid should look or smell. I figure i will flush the brake system every two years unless i hear otherwise.

I'm guessing that the system takes this into account because after my last track day my oil life percentage dropped like a rock and I did another service soon after. Also, my catch can had about 125ml in it after a hard track day with my oil temps near peaking in the afternoon.
