First Real Mod

I just wanted to give a quick update. I had the GM factory remost start installed on my LS on wednesday. Here's a quick break down:

I bought a key for $42 cut at my dealer. I was lucky my dealer has the machinery to cut the keys. It would have been way more expensive to order the key from GM. They offered to program the key for me, but I did my research first and I had the key programed before I left the parking lot.
The remote start module was $167 installed + tax which came out to $184 installed. I had the work done at a different dealer because they had a better deal. Turns out that the price was listed wrong and should have been $300ish, so I got a great deal! They didn't call me until after they had torn my car apart and for more than $200 I would have opted out. HOWEVER, they didn't try to raise the price just called to inform me, and they honored their word and quoted price.

I know how much we all love pictures and videos here so enjoy....

Congrats, I had the Viper 5901 installed in mine. It is also an alarm with remote start and quite a few more features.

Thanks! I have heard a lot of good things about the viper systems. I probably would have looked into a system like that if I had more money to spend BUT I am pleased with the ability to keep one key fob.

Cant remember the name.. But a dealer in Houston area.

Oh and hey, do you ever get in any trouble for no front licence plate? Don't know what the rules are in Texas on that.

Technically, in Texas you are required to have a front license plate, but I never have and I have never had an officer look twice. During the week, before and after school, our city sends out police officers to direct traffic infront of our school. Well the direction I come from takes me to the last entrance to the school so I have to pass 3 entrances to the parking lot and I turn in on the 4th. This means that I pass 4 police officers every day twice a day and I have never had a problem with it. My dealer doesn't install front license plates on ANY sports car like camaros corvettes CTS's with out being asked to.

All that to say... No. haha you may want to ask some Houston members here if they have ever had trouble.

My car is an auto. If you have a stick and you're interested in remote start, I've read a couple of threads on how it could be done.

I had the remote start installed at Classic Chevy in Sugarland on my LS. They did me right as they matched prices from another dealer.

That's how it should be. I don't understand why they jack prices up at some dealerships. I guess they are just hoping people don't do their research.

Thanks I love it's so far. I'm glad I got it right before it got cold. It was my first real mod and I paid for it myself, which I am really proud of.
