ZL1 VS. SS

How do y'all think a 550hp cam & heads SS will hang with the stock 550hp ZL1? Reeaaddyy.... GO!

Depends if its from a dig or roll since the stock SS suspension was never designed to hook up 550hp.

I think the torque from the LSA wins out, but it would be close I suspect. I also agree that its going to depend on how well the ZL1 hooks up.

I agree and disagree... I think they'll hook about the same and I think the ZL1 will pull on the start but I think the SS will reel it in at the end.

The zl1 will most definitely hook better. I'm assuming it will, at the very least, have a stiffer set of control arms and wider tires.

I think it would be a decent showdown, but I'm thinking The torque will pull thru as stated above.

And personally I'm thinking that the ZL is gonna be closer to the 600hp range.... that's solely based on the comment made by Engineer Oppenheiser in Oshawa last month....

I think the ZL1 will win in a quarter mile. From a roll the SS may have the advantage due to weight. I think the suspension and torque favors the ZL1 by a good bit. Not to mention the ZL1 has wider tires that will hook a lot better than a P-Zero.

Hmm... But does everyone agree that on a 1/4 mile track neither will just stomp the other?

If both cars are making the same RWHP, the SS should have the advantage due to its lower weight.

But a drag race between two closely matched cars comes down to traction off the line. So the car with the better wheel/tire setup should win the drag race.

I think on a 1/4 mile the ZL1 would take it, I think the ZL1 is going hook pretty hard compared to an SS, add the torque from the LSA, better tires, much better suspension and 0-60 and 60ft is going to be much better. Now add tires to the SS and things will get much closer, because I think that the H/C combo will pull harder in the top end then a stock LSA even at 600hp the H/C SS would win from a roll.

Unless you're running a stroker, an N/A cammed car won't make the torque of a roots style charged car. They can have the same RWHP and have a gap as big as 50 ft.lbs. on torque. That's what will win a 1/4 mile and stop light race. OP, I think it will be close. Maybe a couple tenths or so.

Agreed, but that could be a disadvantage running street tires.
