Question cam issue

Had a competition cam installed and 20k miles later, having issues. Took to mechanic shop and they said all the compression on left bank all have the same compression. Right bank is bouncing around. Also have a ticking sound like a lifter. Has anyone else had issues so quickly after having cam installed

20k isn't quickly, tear it town and find what's wrong.

Depending on what cam, what other work was done at the time, and how old the lifters are, 20k is not uncommon before its' time for at least new springs. It sounds to me like the lifters might be going out.

Very aggressive, .235 on intake and like .250 on exhaust 623 lift forgot the other. Basic stuff headers, cai, when cam was replaced did springs, push rods. Having a place tear it down soon. Post news then

With an aggressive cam, doing springs and other maintenance every 15-20k isn't uncommon.

When it goes back together... use a Cam Motion Cam, BTR or PAC springs, Johnson lifters (from the COPO), LS2 damper, measure for pushrod length and BTR pushrods, Crower shaft rockers .... it'll be a bullet proof combination. Spec out a cam that is easy on the valve train. Cam motion can help with that. Some cam ramp profiles beat up the valve train. The well engineered ones don't.

I ran into an engineer at the COBO Hall Detroit Autorama this year at the COPO/Chevy performance parts display. I asked him about lifters used in the COPO drag cars. He said they tested many different lifters, the only ones that performed the way they wanted (lived) was the Johnsons. So.... I has the Johnsons now. If you call Johnson, just ask for the COPO lifters, and then ask how much preload and size the pushrods accordingly.

The place I'm taking it to mentioned cam motion for the cam. Saving up the coin to have it tore apart. The guy gave me a couple options from lifters and springs to worn lobes on cam. Obviously he want know until he tears it apart

cam motion makes a good 8620 core cam yes, I know I bought one, but my old cam is just fine and I don't know if I want the other.....lol You see I did a proper "break in" for a cam and used BR30 twice once at the dyno tune then dump then dump it 500 miles later, and used LS30 ....driven racing oil made for ls3 engines that are racing engines and made to make them last when built. The only oil I know of built specifically for altered and ...stock god forbid..lol LS engines. Hopefully you may just have a little problem, no matter what it is though Driven is the only oil I will ever use and I am sinking over 12 grand into my new engine and clutch install right now.

Good luck, and when driving a race car you use: race gas, a racing cam, racing tires, a racing transmission, a racing engine, a racing friggin everything.... so why not the oil?

http://www.drivenracingoil.com/news/...tech-bulletin/

After developing and implementing BR30 into Nascar LS3 type engines the loss of cams on break in on the engine dyno went down 400% compared to just using whatever..... that's from 1 in 10 to 1 in 40, and yes their spring pressure is a lot and the lift too.....
