LA Auto Show ZL1 impressions
Hi all I just attended the Los Angeles auto show on Saturday and here's some overall impressions from my trip.
They had a red hot ZL1 with no sunroof , The front fenders are just under 1 inch wider per side than the SS , actually .9 according to the representative. And it really looks swoopy in person from certain angles. And there was a constant line to wait to sit in the car it was definitely getting a lot of attention even though it was kind of tucked in the corner. I'm 6 1" and my impression of the car was it was a little tight for me but I have never owned a fifth GEN and some of the people there said it was similar and that I would get used to it. I did have a little trouble adjusting the Recaro seats to just the right position when I finally got enough leg room I was really low on the floor. The fit and finish was awesome the carbon fiber hood looked awesome just overall very very good looking car. The time I spent there people were really impressed with it and most were waiting for the A-10 . Miscellaneous : They had a grand sport Corvette which I also sat in and it was even tighter, very claustrophobic feeling for me. To Chevys credit there was a line waiting to sit in the Corvette entire time as well Dodge really had a great display and they had so many cars to sit in they had every make and model challenger in most every color it was very impressive. The mustang booth was kind of quiet I sat right in the mustang no waiting. My list of cars that I sat in and compared room for a bigger person. smallest to largest Corvette Camaro Mustang Lexus RC-F Challenger Last edited by RealG; 11-21-2016 at 08:42 PM. |

Sounds great! I plan on going to the Tampa auto show. FWIW Krypton green won't be available on the ZL1 when it comes out next year which I think is wrong!

That has changed, GM recently announced it will be available in March through the end of 2017 production on the ZL1

Good info, although the Lexus is a bit random on that list.
I had a gen5 SS with sunroof and that certainly made it a tight fit for my 6'5" frame. Without the sunroof makes a big difference and I know my forthcoming ZL1 will be a little snug. Small price to pay to play with real HP.

Did the Recaros make much difference as compared to the standard camaro seat? I'm 6 foot 3 and 225lbs. One amongst many reasons I bought the Hellcat over the Z06 is I BARELY and I mean BARELY fit in the Vette. I absolutely cannot see out the front of a Viper and I now try on cars for size. I sat in an SS camaro and not nearly as roomy as the Hellcat but I fit and it was way better than the Vette. Seat design seems to matter a lot. I fit in much smaller Porsches no problem...go figure.
Been looking for a manual ZL1 to test fit before the A10 hits the streets.

But to answer your question I think that the Recaro seats in the ZL1 did make it a little bit more snug sad to say, I also wasn't thrilled about the suede on the seat . With them being all suede it's a little harder to get in and out as you kind of stick to the seat which I know is it's purpose but it doesn't make it any easier when you're a big guy |

I went to the SF auto show and they had nothing , but a v6 gen 6 and a convertible 50! I find the camaro more tight than the corvette I guess its the windows seem to have more view vs the bunker

Same for Seattle. I was disappointed that the ZL1 was missing.
