Top Header Brand for the Camaro for fit and finish

I'm new to the 6th gen platform and I'm ready to buy longtube headers w/high flow cats. What is the "hands-down" better brands to go with for fit and finish, quality and 1 7/8" or 2"? I assume 2" will fit poorly but not sure. Thanks!

to the forums, Opt1LE, hope you'll enjoy your time here.

I have zero complaints about my Kooks 1 7/8" headers with green cats, they perform and look perfect. They are also made in USA and on the more expensive side, so I'm sure others will weigh in with cheaper options, but I can honestly say these are high quality units that deliver. and I don't regret supporting their business.

As to 1 7/8" vs 2", I have a fair clearance between the driver side header and the steering shaft, not sure if the 2" would rub or interfere, but even if not, they'd be closer than what I'm comfortable with (just my 2 cents', since I don't have them).

Kooks, go with the 1 7/8” unless you plan on running a stage 3 cam etc upgrades some time soon, but if not the 1 7/8’s will be fine for just bolt on mods.

I have the speed engineering but they do not have high flow cats. The headers are as good as you can buy at 1/4 the cost 2 inch fit perfect.

People typically consider ARH and Kooks the top notch brands for fit and finish, in that order.

Their prices reflect that perception as well. I would go with something like Speed Engineering or Texas Speed on my own car though. Proven quality and fit, but not the top tier price.

Well if you are looking for ceramic coated, or something of that nature. I wouldn't recommend my headers. I use Speed Engineering 2" LT uncoated (with cat delete) Definitely on the lower price side, but my shop installed them without issue.

One piece of advice if you get a mid pipe kit, stay away from Speed Engineering. Fit isn't the best, my shop had to finagle a bit to get them on but was able to get them on.

I guess you would like a high flow cat. Hooker, Kooks probably be among the better choices albeit maybe a little pricey.

This be true as well. Headers are pretty much headers. The difference is in name brand pricing, finish, or ceramic coating. But as far as performance is concerned they are nearly identical across the board.

I ran Speed Engineering 1 7/8 on my 16 SS and my 16 C7. If I decided to do headers again on my 2022 it will be Speed Engineering 1 7/8 again
