Pissed off big time
I have a 17 2SS with under 5000 miles on it, I just bought it 4 weeks ago.
On Sunday while on a super hwy,I came upon a section of hwy that they took the ashpalt off and did not sweep. It was a wall of dust and rocks all of a sudden. I had no way to aviod this, I went to the 3 rd lane that the topping was not removed , but at this point there was no way to avoid debris as it transfered to this non removed lane. I slowed down but my car was damaged I need a windshield as it is cracked, the front end, hood headlights and both front fenders are damaged. The ministry of Transportation is involved and are on my side as I was only one of many who contacted them. I was one of the cooler phone calls. The contractor’s insurance will pay. This sucks now because it will be on the car fax as an insurance claim for about $3000 or more. This lowers the value of my car and unlike the USA our insurance compaines dont pay diminished value. |

That absolutely sucks. Not sure if a lawyer could get you compensation for the lost value. Definitely happens here in the states...

This happens in the states as well. Highways, and there’s no way to avoid them, carry their own set of risks. This definitely sucks and you have every right to be pissed off. FYI...not everywhere in the states do they pay diminished value. And even when they do, it’s not anything close to what the diminished value actually accounts to.

Have to go to court to recover diminished value claims. Insurance co's won't even listen now.

A section of the highway I'm taking every morning it just like that. I've been taking my tiburon since they started because there just too much rocks and dust everywhere. Now they are supposed to be done, but I'll be taking the service road there if I used my Camaro just in case.
Sorry for you, don't care too much about the diminished value if you plan to keep the car long enough.

Hope your car gets back to original condition.
Even when there is no road construction here in PA, they do stuff like this just to ruin your day, and any remaining finish on your car.... In six months and 8400 miles, the rear quarters on my black 1LE look like the night sky full of stars.

I know it sucks. I pay 600 a month plus insurance just to get my car messed up whenever I drive it. It pissed me offevery week when debris’s and crap would hit my car for the first 2 years. It’s unvoidabe and if I don’t drive it, I get hit with depreciation. So I say xxxx it i, I pay big money to have a Camaro I’ma have to drive it.

Yep, I learned the hard way that a clear bra is worth it's weight in gold (even tho it costs a lot of gold) I got the last 4 cars I've owned done as soon as possible. With the Camaro I had the front and the sides with the quarters in front of the back wheels up to the top of the lower panel.
As for the Carfax hit, my 2014 Mazda 6 was in pristine condition when I traded it. The second year we had it, the wife drove over a piece of house HVAC pipe on the highway. She pulled over and a cop stopped and checked it out for her, no problem noted. He asked if she wanted a report in case we needed to make a claim and she said yes. Had it checked out, nothing damaged so went on our way, no fuss, no muss. Imagine my surprise when the dealer where I traded it said there was a hit on the Carfax.

Never take my Camaro on the freeway, Highways. Work is close and surface streets are fine, I also don't tail gate. Wife's car is for freeways & traveling, A Subaru Forester.
Best of luck on the repair adventure. |
