Open Diff on 8L45 LT's?
Haven't seen this question yet. Will the LT models with the 8L45 automatic going to have a open differential again or will they get a proper LSD this time? Thanks, -Jax

Good question. I haven't seen details on the differential for any of the models. I was hoping an e-diff would be offered on the SS, but it doesn't look like that will happen

I'd like to know as well. The manual 5th gen V6 had LSD, but the automatic was open. Would be great if they both has LSD.

Can I ask why you would want an E diff over a mechanical LSD? In the BMW's anyway the e diff is crap compared to the mechanical diff.

I don't know how well they work but I think Chevy has been putting e-diff on trucks for years.

Having a Limited-slip option for the Automatic will be a deal maker or breaker for me ..... Ford has a "Performance Package" for the Mustang that includes 3.55 gears in Posi/Limited slip form for their Automatic cars ...... Hopefully Chevy follows suit with a Limited-Slip package for the 6th Gen, if not Hammer Head IRS hear I come ....

The G80 differential in the trucks is not electronic. It is an automatic mechanical differential that activates when a wheel slips. |

Chevy uses the same G80 locker that Eaton has been producing for over 40 years. Not electric. And I hope they never change that. Why fix what works. Still the best all around set up of any factory truck.

Wrong. The automatic V6.... Lt and LS have open dif. Only the manual is limited slip. My LT is automatic....trust me.

KMP is correct. It was the point of me asking the question. I could understand if it was only on the 2LS for rental fleets, entry buyers & EPA ratings, but not on the LT's. The open diff and traction control programming on the V6 auto's is on my top 5 gripe list for my '13 2LT A6.
#1 - Squeaky shifter cover assembly #2 - Open differential #3 - Traction control on wet surfaces (pulses side to side instead of simultaneously) #4 - Lack of MyLink/map updates (MyFord Touch you download from Ford to a USB stick to get software patches and map updates, nice) #5 - Lack of rear amenities (cup holders, power port or cable channels from console -- my kids actually fit in the back but have no place for drink or tablet power) |

<~~~~~~~ needs an option for Limited-slip rear on the Automatic cars with better gearing like 3.73 gears would be nice, if not no buy ...... I am patiently waiting to see what Chevy will offer in the 2.0L Auto category and the 3.6L Auto category because if No Posi in those areas I am keeping my '13 2LT Camaro and buying a Hammer Head IRS set-up or DSS set-up with my gear choice, Posi included .....

I'd love see a 3.15 or 2.92 option, but its not looking likely at all.

Why is that? If it is not offered, big deal, just have it swapped for one, problem solved. I did exactly that on my 4th Gen RS...
If warranty is a concern, have your dealer do it so it is fully covered. Quote:
