Camaro SS L99 owners come on in

We have a '14 SS automatic i have a question about.
I have made a few full throttle runs to 6,000 rpm and the transmission shifts perfect while left in either D or M.
When using paddles in M in 1st gear to full throttle and hitting 2nd at 6,000 rpm there is a "lag" before it hits 2nd gear and then "barks" the tires.
Anyone else have this issue or any TSB's on this?

Thanks
Bob

There is a definite delay between hitting the paddle and the upshift, but that "lag" that you feel is probably the torque management coming in to protect the trans.

I did this twice, and thought it was that I missed the shift point and was right on the limiter.

Curious to hear others experiences.

Can't say that I've pushed mine that hard yet... I wouldn't expect an auto to shift instantly when I hit the paddle, so that's not surprising that it does that (to me anyway).
I'm old enough to remember when auto transmissions were real slush-boxes, so I'm quite happy with mine so far.

Might just be a placebo effect but I swear mine shifts quicker and harder since I added a Range AFM Delete to mine.... I did "miss" a shift once when nailing it last year never did figure out what that was all about. One thing I will add as it takes these cars several thousand miles to open up well past the break-in. Mine had about 6000 on it before it came to life. Not sure how many miles on the OP's car though.

Normal, the paddles have a delay. With my tune it's still there but but a bit better.

Range will have no effect on this as AFM is not on when taking off from the line. I will agree on the milage thing tough, although mine was tuned at 4 miles.

Bob,

Sorry that your transmission is lagging before second gear. I understand the displeasure when dealing with a matter like this. Although you're seeking opinions from others, I'd be happy to communicate your concerns with the Customer Experience Managers (CEM) at your GM dealer of choice. Please know that you're welcome to message us privately if you would like to discuss this further, or if you simply want this matter documented.

Kindly,

William R.

You have to have a little bit of foresight with the paddles, if you want it to shift at 6000, you need to hit the paddle at let's say 5800. You need to play with it and you will figure out its sweet spot. For drag racing ignore them..... they will bite you every time.

I agree. I am sure my lag was due to just about hitting the limiter. Shifting around 5800 is a sweet spot.

I have been trying to find out more info on this. Someone said the signal has to go through the PCM and that slows it down.
