Battery Dead.. Tow, or Third Party Mobile Repair

Two hundred dollars later, the fancy charger could not recover my battery. The 2017 ZL-1 is parked in my garage and I don't want to disassemble the trunk to install a new AGM battery.

Without battery, the parking brake and windows aren't working and I can't discharge the parking brake, nor fully close the door because of the window being in the fully up position.

My driveway has a bit of a grade down to the street and what I can't decide is if it is better to risk the efforts to get the car to the flatbed, or call a mobile battery service to tear apart the trunk and replace the battery in the garage. AAA has a mobile battery service, where they have 'approved' vendors. Any suggestions here? I haven't any experience with trunk batteries, nor mobile battery services.

The battery should be pretty easy to get to. No need to tear the trunk apart. Don’t risk getting the car damaged by someone else over a battery. Jmo.

Go with one of these. If you search you can probably find it cheaper.

Wow! Is it really that difficult to replace the battery yourself? I've never done it, but it seems pretty straight-forward. However, I could be wrong. Not really sure what is involved with replacing the battery in these cars.

All you need to remove is the battery door on the right side of the trunk. It’s not hard to replace the battery at all.

Buy a Home with a 3-Car Garage. Use Battery Tender. Simple.

If you hooked up a battery charger and nothing terrible happened then it sounds like your battery has a bad cell. Maybe hook your charger up to see if it provides enough power to lower the window and release the parking brake.

Another option is to buy a decent portable jump start battery and hook it up. It should provide enough power to start the engine and then the alternator should keep the car running even with a bad battery. At the very least the jump battery should be able to power up the windows and parking brake.

Replacing the battery is a pain but doable. Good luck!

100% agree with the ideas here (although my guess is that a charger/maintainer won't have a high enough current output to help). OP's feedback on whether a jump pack would provide enough power to disengage electronic parking brake would be most welcomed, too! (there's a discussion about this going on in another thread and it would be great to post something definitive about whether a jump pack would allow it to be operated)

An AGM battery that is completely flat does not like to be resurrected with any charger. Another fresh battery needs to be connected -positive to positive negative to negative -and let the two batteries equalize. A fully charged rescue battery and a dead battery should equal izesomewhere in the 11s. Then your charger will work to bring it back up to full charge.

Or go with OEM https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-48AGM.../dp/B008FWCLHU
Here's a 5 year free replacement https://www.batteriesplus.com/produc...wer/sli48agmdp
And as usual, can't be Walmart and they're everywhere and open late

$137 and change here, but no delivery and none in stock for pickup. Just says "Out of Stock" below the price.

Here is what is posted on Amazon regarding the AC Delco replacement battery, " Battery is vented to outside of vehicle, AGM Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) is required"

I think that all of these AGM batteries are all VRLA. The 'vented to outside of vehicle' raises questions. Is there a pre-existing and standardized hose that is already present in the car and this is just a matter of hooking the vent to the hose, or is there something else going on here?
