Shifting from D mode to M mode when driving

Is it ok to shift from D mode to M mode while driving the Camaro? Does it harm the transmission?

Yes to question #1 and No to question #2. Shifting from Drive(D) mode to Sport(M) mode does not bother anything, it just changes the shift points of the transmission, making it more aggressive. It also changes how the paddles work as they are different in (D) than in (M).
Do you know how the paddles work in each mode?

Thank you so much for your answer!
I was not sure because my friend told me that switching between D(drive) mode and N(Neutral) mode while the car is moving will harm the transmission. So I was wondering what happens if I switch between D and M.
And Yes I read the manual and know how the paddles work.

Cool.. Your friend is somewhat correct, taking it in and out of gear while driving it could harm the transmission over time, but it will not harm it right away unless you are in neutral and revving the engine up and then shifting into D.

#1 YES. you can shift from one to the other at anytime (on the fly). when you shift from D to M (sport) there are 2 modes for M, if you just put it in M and go, your transmission will still shift automatically but the shift points will change....OR you can use the paddle's, once you use the paddles once, you will have to continue to use them until you shift back into a different forward/reverse gear.
#2 NO it does not....its been designed to work that way.

yes but, he\she can also hold down the paddle shifter like for 2 sec and it will go back to auto manual without having to shift forward/reverse gear.

I am glad I found that tidbit in that other thread. I was switching it back to D and back into Sport when I took over with the shifters and put it in Manual.

That is definitely a cool thing to know.
