Camaro's Life
So I am looking to buy my first Camaro and obviously I'm trying not to spend a lot of money. I am just looking for any v6 camaro. I have came across a few camaros in the 90-130K mile range. How is the life on these things? Would you advise buying one with almost 100K miles?

I would not buy ANY car that had anywhere close to 100K miles on it, but that's just me. If I were looking, I'd be looking in the 30K or less range.

Holy shit 100k miles in 2-3yrs that's too much, I know u might not wanna drop a lot of cash but also don't set yourself up for a mile of tune ups and replacement parts, don't get me wrong a Camaro is a really good car but keep this in mind, " how did they ride those miles" if u ask me they had alil too much fun to drive 30k+ mile per year! Avg is 12-15k miles per year but hey that's just my 2cents good luck on your choice

Those are a lot of miles. I don't know how prices are in your area, but you can find some new LS at around 21-22k so I can imagine a used LS with low miles at around 17-18k? maybe less. According to NADA.com a 2010 Camaro LS with 100+k miles as a "rough" trade in is at $11,657(would not recommend a Camaro in that condition) so saving a few thousand more would get you a used/new 2013 LS under better condition and probably still under warranty.

100k is too much for a 2010 or 2011. I have 176k on my 98, and I bought it in 04 with 66k on the clock.

Yeah, get a used in the 30k to 50k maybe 60k. BUT 60k is pushing it. 100,000 is too much in my opinion anyways.

You want a used car with 100k miles on it, sure if the first thing you plan on doing is ripping the motor, the tranny, and the chunk out, ok Seriously, as a daily driver, that would be trouble, as a fun car that when, not if, when it breaks down you can leave it in a garage until you have the time and money to fix it, sure I don't mean to rain on the parade, but I would say that if you can't afford a car with any more than 30k miles then maybe now isn't your time. There is a bright side, in a year or two or five or even 15 there will still be low mileage garage kept models available. Just look at what you can get in a fourth gen for $20,000 or less, how bout a 2002 SS under 30,000 miles. Don't believe me? Check out auto trader because I was just looking 2 weeks ago. |

If the cars runs and drives good then have it checked out by your own mechanic. I'd buy it if the price is a smoking deal. If it was maintained well and had all of it's service done then it could of been someone's daily driver and mostly highway miles. Find out more about it. Modern cars with proper maintenance can last over 200K miles maybe even 300K.

Assuming since he is posting in the 5th gen section, he wants a 5th gen. To rack up over a 100,000 miles (or close to) and it being a 5th gen Camaro, you only really have 3 years 2010, 11 and 12. This he was saying was at best was 30k/yr, with that avg we're looking at an '11 but still more/less miles are possible between a 10 and 12. I would run away from a '13 that has 100,000 on the clock.
IMO I wouldn't buy a 5th gen with 100,000 miles on the clock, granted it could have been properly maintained, cared for, etc... but I rather be the one putting those 100k miles on and it be my problem if the car breaks down, rather than buying someone else's problems.
