X pipe installed on zl1.....love it

Finally I've gotten the exhaust almost perfect. I had an X pipe installed today and boy do I love the sound. I never liked the sound of the factory exhaust because to me it sounded like a freaking truck and a loud truck at that. Now the car sounds......well like a car. Much quieter inside and outside. I still hate the popping sounds but even it has diminished some. My advice to those of you who appreciate silence.....get the X pipe. I drove my zl1 to work tonight and for the first time i was not embarrassed by the loud obnoxious exhaust note during start up.**ps. After all how the heck can I write someone a ticket for loud exhaust when I drive a loud obnoxious sounding car myself......no can do.

lol, a local police officer with a zl1. I have been at a few lights and have gotten questions and compliments from police officers. Oddly enough about the sound of the car. I put a set of headers and you cant tell unless you get over 3000 rpm, then she gets load. The pop you hear i like to tell people thats the sound of power. I almost gave a family a heart attack at MIA airport under the tunnel when I started the car.

Thumbs up

I'm glad you like it. Do you have headers? I agree the sound is better especially at WOT. No more truck sound.

2013 with 5000 miles on it now. Torq speed lab in Miramar did all the work. It's listed on their site under randall zl1 . It made 600rwhp and 650rwtq. It's an automatic and it made those numbers with a 100 shot. Nitrous system is from nitrous warehouse. I ordered the best of everything. Kit cost $4,000 so you know I have all the bells and whistles. Other than that the car has a 2.55 upper pulley and a k/n drop in air filter. Funny thing is I've only tried out the nos twice. Off nitrous tune isn't perfect though. That's my only complaint. Paul at torq says he'll get it right though so I'm not worried.

Didn't install headers because the extra noise and little power gain in my opinion wasn't worth it. I'll give up 20 or 40hp for my sanity. Also there's a post where an automatic car from adm I think made over 800hp with the stock exhaust, proof/evidence that headers are not necessary for big power. Hell at this point I would be fine if my zl1 was just as quiet as my 2010 bmw 7 series. Lol..........ps. not really but you get my point.

Here is a video of mine. It has Kooks LT's w/cats, x-pipe and stock catback with the ADM Exhaust controller. This is warm idle switching back and forth between open and closed. Sounds louder in the video because it's in the garage. Hope this helps.
