from your other thread i saw you have an auto, there is no way i would put 3.91s, first gear would be useless, the highest i believe everyone around this forum goes is 3.70, but me personally i would put in the 3.42s

No to 3.91 or 3.45 gears.....yes to the 3.70.

However, from what I've seen a torque converter would probably do you better first.

I would start with LTs and swap to stock 20s with someone who wants the bigger wheels. Then a converter and dyno tune.

The 21" wheels will hurt your acceleration. Gears will help your acceleration, but might hurt your traction. I have the 3.70 and first gear goes by real quick. As for performance, the only way to know for sure is to go to the track. Assuming the cars hooks, I would think that upgrading the gears would knock a few tenths off your 0-60 time. There are other benefits, though. Overall, the car just drives much better and it feels like it has a lot more oooomph. I can't say enough good things about upgrading the gears on these cars. They're big and heavy, and it makes a noticable difference!

Personally I can't recommend a brand, my car is stick. I would run a 3600 stall and then you will need the proper tuning to setup your shifts.

I have a 3800 circle d converter and a large cam. My first gear is useless on a non prepped surface. I have stock gears. But I want 3.70's though. Since I don't race on the street.

Is this just for automatic trans or for both auto and manual? I have a manual SS and was looking into getting 3.91's in the future.

I have the 3.91 gear in a manual Camaro. It's perfect imho. I agree that 3.70 is probably the max for an auto.

That's for auto. A lot of people even do 4.11s in the stick.
