Upgrading my stock L99 ... Where should I start from?
I have a stock L99 ... And I want to start planing on how to upgrade my Camaro .. I want to start slow and with things that don't void the warrantee for now... No major upgrade needed !!
I was thinking with air filter and performance chips .. Appreciate your feedback and recommendation to all of you .. |

Yes, a cold air intake is always a good place to start. Don't waste your money on performance chips they are snake oil. That and are cars don't use "chips" to begin with. Another easy mod is to upgrade your exhaust system.

You won't need a chip (tune) right now.
For power, go with a Cold Air Intake (lots of brands), and some type of headers. You can also go with just high flow cats and make good gains (easy to install - choose JBA or Solo). Don't do a cat-nback exhaust since it shows no power. But if you want sound, go with an axle-back (any brand you like). You can do all that without a tune and find good gains. After that, consider a torque converter for quicker off the line performance. All that leaves you lots of possibiities for the future. Best of luck. Padre |

Like the other two people have said Intakes and exhaust are a good starting spot. Another good thing to look into is other people's builds. I know Stieger has a good one, i have not read Padre's but it looks pretty good. The builds give you a good understanding of difficulty and time consumed and even someone to call on if you need any help. Good luck with all of your installs, I don't have any performance mods, i just upgraded my car's Chick Magnet so far.
