The guys on the bmw forums were using passports and v1s and they had issues from their own cars with it. I'm betting you guys have filters in place to reduce false alerts which also compromises detection range. But agree not all radar detectors are equal, even in the same models. I definitely have no filters set on mine that would cut down on alerts from cars. So that could be my reason.
